Title: are philis any good?
Post by: LukeChips on December 09, 2014, 08:05:19 AM
I was going to make clay/magitian eck but I have like no magitians, hence my trade thread, and I already have everything you need to make an awesome phili deck, so ae philis any good? Ae they better than magitians?

Personally I think so. I believe they would make a better matchup with teal anyway. I did well at nats with them.

They also go well with Lots Wife, or more cannanites, but they are not terribly fast so I would actually suggest running Purple with Teal, since they can combine pretty well (especially with Solomons Temple Priests with Kings of Judah), and can be fast.

Just a couple of suggestions.

I have run black for almost 2 years strait, switching between and combining Phillis/Canaanites, so if you would like a couple of my defenses I have used just PM me.

I would say, in general, yes.

Like how, speed, drawing etc.? I've noticed that my phiilis are really slow...

Phillistine Outpost + Goliath + Phillistine Armor Bearer + Phillistine Garrison + Household Idols, possibly the strongest 5 card evil combo.

I would say, in general, yes.

They have a lot more versatility and I agree they are better a lot of the time. Honestly If your going real I'd go with them.

(If you don't do magicians) I don't think house hold idols is needed. For me personally it always gets in my way. Big tehing about Phillies make sure you can take out Nazareth some how otherwise you'll be quickly destroyed. Curse wastelands I like but there are a few new clay cards that will do this as well.

And philis never have initiative.

They are still pretty good in the early game if you can get an early Goliath and outpost. Their only weakness is that they are not terribly fast which doesn't help them set up early. I remember the days with Philly Garrison was the best evil character ever haha and everyone in type 1 splashed phillies.

Yea, they aren't versatile, but I like all their weapons, those get useful halfway through the game.

If you run Phillies you better run Shipwreck.  Nazzy has been the bane of Phillies for a long time now...

And hezzy signet Ring...
And on the Goliath note if you don't get him early he's not as useful.
I run a T1 judges/Phillies so all I do is search so things that stop it destroy my offense.
HHI Plus garrison is still a deadly combo, same with Goliath.

Goliath is so useful, but most of the philis never have initiative because of there high numbers!
