Title: Strange Spiritual Activities.
Post by: Colin Michael on December 14, 2008, 11:58:41 AM
Yeah, there was some really weird stuff going on last night when a bunch of friends and I were spending the night at Pol's. I won't go into details, but there were definitely some spiritual phenomenon going on, not to mention Daniel got really sick for an hour. Prayers appreciated.

I would really appreciate some details, or at least some evidence that you are absolutely positive it was spiritual activity, and not just a bunch of college students hanging out and acting crazy. ;)

Just don't worry about it. This was a pretty serious matter, and I'd rather not invite a spirit of fear by going into details. That's it.

Basically, I'd rather not gossip about demons, that just gives them credit slime like them doesn't deserve.

Hmmm, you know, I think demons get a better kick out of people being afraid of them.

Brilliant deduction, are you a detective?

So by not giving people details, less people will be afraid of the same happening to them.

Just send me a PM or something then, if you would please. To be completely honest, I am no more afraid of demons than I am of spiders. My first demonic experience occured when I was about 6 or 7, and I was terrified, but by my second experience when I was 12ish, I had complete faith in Jesus to deliver me, and essentially I said "Go away, I'm not afraid, I have Jesus," and I have never been bothered since. It's as simple as having faith in God for protection.

Well, now that this has been long gone (and I don't even remember it really,) I'll just go ahead and say that I don't like to give details on demonic activity because I do not wish to glorify it.

How would mentioning it be glorifying it?
Title: Re: Strange Spiritual Activities.

Mentioning it so that we can pray for you doesn't glorify it. It helps to defeat it. Keeping it a secret and fighting it alone is exaclty what those demons want you to do. You think they want your fellow brothers and sisters in Christ praying for you? NO! Which is exactly why it would be good to ask us for your help. And we can't effectively pray without at least MINOR details.

You are using this "situation" to boast how you have "knowledge" that others cannot have.  That makes me think not true.  Also, that was really rude, which also points to either scared or untruth.

So by not giving people details, less people will be afraid of the same happening to them.

Really?  I am doubtful.

Is talking about anything glorifying it?  Obviously not.  I find this logic horribly flawed.  Actually, this seems to me to be a defense of something made up....  If it was real, and you wanted people to pray, it seems illogical to me to act "uppity."

+1

Now, I don't want to seem like I'm discounting want you "saw" or "know", and I don't want this to come off as "You are lying", but I really doubt that this happened as it is being "hinted to."  Please PM me details on this.  I am interested, although right now not believing it.

Well, since I didn't want you to know in the first place, why would you think that I would care if you believed me? Can't a guy ask for prayer without going under investigation?

Yes. We're just skeptical because of the reasons you have given. I just don't see how talking about it will "glorify" it and make us all "scared."

Colin,

I just wanted to say, HOW IS LIFE MY DUDE? I've never actually had an "encounter" with a Demon(s) if they exist, but I think it would be cool if I did... ::)

I wish tourny season would roll around already, I miss da fun!

I don't think you need my concurrence, but I concur.
Man, I've seen stuff that would curl your hair. On the one hand you know it was real, on the other hand someone that wasn't there and just wants a ghost story might minimize it.
It's kind of like: "Was your Dad in the war?
Yes sir!
Did he talk about it?
Only once sir!
Good! Then he wasn't lying!"

I just want to point out that if a person has a demonic occurrence that generally they are involved in some sort of activity that opens themselves up to that sort of thing.  If this is the case, then my advice to you Colin is to "STOP IT".

By the way, this was like two months ago. Why is it being brought up again?
I don't even really remember what happened.
On topic, my mom is a minister, first of all (thus promoting the possibility of being a target.) Not only is she a minister, but her speciality is dealing with the supernatural and people who are under spiritual attack; she's what non-denominational people call a deliverance minister (basically an exorcist without all of the show, yelling, and smoke in mirrors.)

Secondly, I am completely unafraid of demons or anything spiritual. In fact, I laugh at demons. They're scum and powerless. If they bother me once, they won't do it again. In fact, I make it my point to give demons hell.

This is the attitude all of you should have towards Satan and his angels and Beelzebub and his demons. They weak and whiny pathetic creatures who pass the short time they have before damnation by spreading lies and spooking people into thinking they have power.

I've seen angels and demons since I was like four years old and my mom is a deliverance minister. It's no big deal to me.

You should be afraid of Satan. He has not power against God... but once you say that Satan doesn't scare you and that he has absolutely no power, you leave yourself vulnerable. Doing certain things can LET Satan have control. You haven't told me what happened, but that might have been one of those things.

Actually, I'm not afraid of Satan at all because frankly, he has no power.

No, he doesn't. The only way Satan has power is if you give it to him. He has only the power of deceiving people into thinking he has power.

+1 with fireninja.  Underestimating what the enemy can do to ANYONE (even someone strong in faith) is a SURE invitation to giving him power.

Why? Doesn't the Bible tell us to "stand firm" against the evil one? The only power Satan can get is the power that is given to him when people blame him for things.

If Satan had no power, there would be no reason to stand firm. Satan should be respected - that is, his power shouldn't be underestimated - but he should not be respected - that is, we shouldn't glorify him. It isn't that he has no power, it's that Jesus overpowers him. If it weren't for Jesus, Satan could easily destroy us all.

See, that is a lie. (And there is a reason that the proper translating of Elohim is in order.)

By the way, are we talking about the devil or satan?

There's a difference if you examine the Greek/Hebrew as well as Jewish tradition (Enoch, Jubilees).

Really? I doubt that. Not to think that you're lying... It's just hard to beleive that no one I have every heard before didn't say this if it was true.

And did I say that Satan had power over those who walked with God? no. I think you actually agreed with me. You said that we give him power by blaiming him. Then you said that the night that you had, you blamed it on spiritual activities. That sounds like blaiming Satan, which by your standards is what gives him power. I'll look for some scriptural passages on this.

Satan is the prince of the fallen angels, the devil is the prince of demons.

I have kind of followed this out of mild interest but mostly kept my thoughts to myself, but I have to correct this.
   Fallen angels = demons
    Satan = Devil
Satan is just Greek for:  "the accuser"
Devil is just Hebrew for:  "the accuser"

You're trying to differentiate between the same thing!  They are the same!

Actually SS seems to be mostly correct after all, and I am going to even bother.

Quote from: bibletexts.com
Satan (Greek: Satan or Satanas) as used in the New Testament is a word of Hebrew origin. It means the accuser, the adversary, the opponent, the prosecution (in a legal case). In the Greek New Testament the Hebrew word Satan is often translated into the Greek word diabolos, which most commonly is translated into English as Devil. Diabolos means the accuser, slanderer, calumniator, backbiter, enemy, one who separates
