Title: Job interview.
Post by: TheKarazyvicePresidentRR on March 13, 2012, 12:46:49 AM
Wednesday at 11am I have an interview for a job. I have been desperately needing and seeking one, so prayers are very appreciated.

Make that 3. And YMT, if I get the third one, its a face painter for theme parks... So you might get your chance. Thank you guys so much, it is so appreciated.

You could be the guy from UP!  (Except face paint instead of balloons)

Well status update one: Did the first one (second one was not there :( ). Was told I have a great work ethic, and he would like to hire me BUT due to the lack of experience, I am only hire-able for one of the positions I applied for. However, that position was a misprint, so it is NOT open. IF it does open though, he said he will talk to the manager of the position and heavily endorse me.

Update two: While waiting for my next interview I got called for another one tomorrow at one PM.

Update three: Interview for face painter went decently. I was amazing up until the painting part. I know this sounds funny buuuut it took me a while to get used to the feel of the brush. Once I did I got quite a bit better, but wasn't great. Will know in 2 days.

Pros: I actually feel like I could be hired now (I didn't before)
Cons: I still have no job.

@SomeKittens I am not nearly crotchety enough.

FYI, my wife does face-painting and can offer some tips for improvement. Also, with the homeschool group that my kids attend, you could get some practice on willing children.  ;D

What type of job is the "first one?" Maybe we can find a way to get you some experience with that, too.

***THIS JUST IN - Face-painting will be available at all Central Florida Redemption tournaments!! ****   ;)

The first one was a dish washer/bell hop for the reunion resort, that didn't work out due to them already having hired for my position.

No call back from face paint. Will call today or tomorrow.

No call back from Dunkin' doughnuts.

Just interviewed at  Publix, will know by 5pm. If I don't get a call back I am not hired.

If I do not get the call back I have an interview at Olive Garden for a lovely busboy position.

Is that the new one by my house?

Any experience is good. Are you looking for entry level in general? Wal-Mart, Target, Lowe's and such usually have more positions available. Also, the theme parks are always gearing up for the summer this time of year. You have to apply for Disney and Sea World online first, before they will interview you. If you apply at Disney, use my Cast Member number on the application (unless you know someone at Disney who has been there longer than me). Disney will always hire someone that has a Cast Member reference over someone who does not.

Is there a specific location that you were trying to stay near (i.e. what is your radius for choices)? We do have connections with some businesses through the Homeschool and through church.

Heh, wish I hadda known that before I had applied before. Thanks though, I will remember that. I am trying to stay near my house (champions gate) or 192.

I also did well at olive garden, so fingers crossed and prayers.

Well there was a little bit of a mix up with dunkin' doughnuts. T_T; I was supposed to bring in ID yesterday, I thought she asked for today, and I said I'd call back to check at 4. She thought I said I would come in at 4 for the ID. :( Worst part is it seems like they needed me to work a time I said on my application I couldn't work, and in the interview I couldn't work. Don't understand that at all. I understand it is busy at that time, but if it is repeated you can't work it, why continue asking?

Update: Guess my good interview at olive garden didn't hold up. Just got an email saying they won't hire me. Guess its time to try at the loop.

They are either really desperate for people or think you are REALLY qualified  ;D

I had an interview at Best Buy last year. I'd already found a job and wasn't taking the interview really seriously, and it turns out they find it really unfunny if you wear khaki chinos and a blue polo to the interview. I don't recommend it.

Pretend I'm a customer trying to buy blank CDs. I ask for your help. Which monster cable do you suggest I buy?

First I must know what you are buying it for.

Incorrect. First you sell me the cable, than you sell me the TV and tuner box that go WITH the monster cable, then you sell me a one year subscription to direct TV. Finally you need to add warranties to everything I just bought, and convince me to lock in for an addition year of direct tv.

From 2 years of experience, sadly he is correct...but one thing I always did Josh was to take care of the customer first, the company second...they will tell you that you need to constantly attach accessories, but you also have to believe they are good services for that person. A high tech dad wanting the latest for his new system SHOULD get the extras. Grandma that just wants to watch her grandkids' DVD and is getting by with her Social Security check should just get the normal cables and make sure her remote is in good condition...use your best judgment....in the end it was my customers that I missed after I left...praying for ya, brother!

I figured ;) Sadly, I guess I WILL need to know how to do that though because.....Praise the Lord, he got me a job at best buy. It was all him.

I applied 2 pm Monday, got a call back for an interview by 3:45 to set up the interview. Came in wednesday at 2:00, waited till 2:45 for the interview. Got out of it by 3:15, they had set me up with the second interview for 4:30. I came, talked to him about all that I was currently doing at my church. Turns out he is not only a devoted christian who goes to a church near by, he knows my executive pastor who I used as a reference.

Thank you all SO much for praying.

Awesome! Next time I happen to be in Florida, can I get a discount on a TV or something?  ;)

Just remember the best buy saying! "No, you're not leaving until I have sold you at least 2 things you didn't intend to buy and probably don't need!"

Oddly enough EVERYONE ASKS THIS!

Just remember the best buy saying! "No, you're not leaving until I have sold you at least 2 things you didn't intend to buy and probably don't need!"
Or insurance on everything.

Also a God thing I got hired when 400 other people from best buy were let go and 50 stores closed. O_o;

I am such a natural XD

Little update with training:

I was locked out of the computers so I couldn't do training. So they put me on the front register learning what I could and even working it myself for the last hour and a half. Was hard but a good learning experience. So much information it made my head spin.
