Apologetics
« on: May 19, 2010, 11:40:33 AM »
i.e., "defense of the Christian faith", not the band.  I'm active in two forums, this one and Underground Gamer, a decidedly non-Christian place.  Almost everyone there is a militant atheist.  They have a forum for debate, and I jumped into a current one about Christianity.
Most were polite, with a few exceptions, but pages of debate later, including one altar call, I'm no further down the line.  I've put tons of prayer into this.
Now, a few more people have joined in, and they're outright offensive.  I'm about to throw in the towel.  I need massive spiritual strength and knowledge, and possibly a few assistant defenders, or I'm out.
I don't want to give up, but I'm pouring so much effort into this, and seeing nothing come out.

I've got plenty of invites if needed.  My beliefs may be slightly different than yours, but that doesn't change the fact that Jesus loved everyone so much that died on the cross for our sins

You need to hit it the right way as in go to the basics and point out where the bible correctly forseen a historical event like in Daniel and the spilt of the Roman empire. Jesus's birth in bethlem etc etc.

Bore them? That showing the facts not boreing. To debate one must show facts. Not strong emotinal opinion.

It really depends on who and where and what you're debating with this kind of thing there may be some proving of  facts but more proving of "Hey, you can be a christian and torrent!" "Hey you can be a christian and listen to good music!" etc etc

Just because you can prove that Deadliest Catch fisherman are real guys who are smart about their trade doesn't make me want to go jump onboard with them.

Wrong, most atheists of any kind hate christianity and any other religion because you're pressured into giving up things(i.e. see my post before this) and they feel that they just don't want to give it all up

True most atheists are misguided. although educated.

I agree. RED, you were born into Christianity, so it is your first nature. Seriously STOP being so self-righteous because THAT RIGHT THERE is what athiests think of when they think of Christians.

BTW, I'm not trying to make a personal attack, but there is no excuse to call anyone "stupid", especially since the bible speaks out very harshly against that.

Praying for you. I know how hard it can be to witness to people who hate God but you must continue, even though if you're anything like me you want to smack them in the head with something heavy and go "HE DIED FOR YOU! Why can't you accept he loved you? You accept others loving you!"
Not quite a ghost...but not quite not.

It's been very dry debate so far, I've been defending so fast, I've only been able to preach about His love once.  I did get in a bunch of Hermeneutics.
