Ron had a ruling go against him which really hurt his defensive strategy. By the way it's Count Fount . Like Fountain ;)

It was just a Genesis offense with a Philly site lock defense.  Basic but effective.  Nothing fancy. ;)

Classic, yet very strong. Just out of curiosity was it similar to the one you played on RTS?

One timed loss gets you 3rd place even with such a high differential too. Tough competition.

Not quite. Kirk posted his last round (7-1 vs. James Roepke) backward, as it was actually 7 for me and 1 for him.

But yes, the competition was still very fierce.

upsets:
Crustpope losing first two rounds with an insane deck ive played against- thought for sure it would go all the way

Wow, this is high praise since I misplayed the deck against you in the only game you saw it  ;)  Actually, I had the combo against Ron and  he fouled it up...twice..Once with mayhem and, after I got it up again, he did it with CM on jake.  I got it a third time, but by then it was to late.  I timed out losing 3-2 to Ron.

After that game, I thought about how easy it would be to keep disrupting that combo and decided to switch to a simple ANB reset deck that I was going to use for Multiplayer the next day.  I lost 7-3 to Michael Leung as he got an absolute RIDICulous draw (dom blocks on like my first three RA's) and he was playing site lock which slowed down my prophets who needed access to play the ANB.

After 2 rounds and 1 point...I figured it was over for me...SO then I proceded to win my next 4 rounds ending with a 13 score with a pretty low differential.

I think I lost 3rd place by 10 LS differential...Which stinks because I was beating Nathan Mashuda 6-0 before he came back to make it a 6-6 game that I barely won.  If I had been able to finish him off 7-0, (or if had maybe tied Ron) I could have had a shot at 3rd.

Oh well.  THat was the story of my Nats this year.. always a bridesmaid, never a bride... ;)

My Nats went like this

2-3 Vs. Ron Sias
3-7 Vs. Micheael Leung
7-3 Vs.  Jacob Fountain
7-6 Vs. Nathan Mashuda
7-6 Vs Scott Hoover
7-3 vs. COunt Fount

I think that is how it went, I may be a bit fuzzy on the exact numbers though.

4-7 to Alex Olijar. I think I would have pulled off the combo if I didn't tell him the combo the day before. oops...
7-? to Clayton Stupenski (CJSports). COMBO COMBO COMBO COMBO CONGO!!!!
2-7 to Nathan Voigt (Hobbit13). he was my ride...he helped me build my deck...
0-7 to Scott Hoover (scottie_ffgamer). I was one card away (Tribal Elder) from winning when he Mayhem'd me.
7-? to Patrick (not sure of his last name). COMBO COMBO COMBO COMBO CONGO!!!!!
2-7 to Nathan Mashuda. again, one card away from COMBO COMBO COMBO COMBO CONGO!!!!

Some personal notes on my Type 2 games.

Playing Ron is always a blast but our defenses just wrecked each other and he did a great job of disrupting my attempts to d/c his entire deck.  I got one whole iteration of it ( I went through all my immune EC's and had the other EC's pulled out to set up the Besieging the city lock out when he played mahem.  And the next time he played Martyr on Jake.  By the time I got the next combo I only had 2-3 minutes to play it.  So I Rescued one to tie and then I think he played SoG on my next attempt and then we timed out....ugh!

Rd 2 I had never played Michael Leung before.  He was a very detail oriented person and The game was fun although not as enjoyable as I would have hoped since i lost.  I noticed that, since this deck was more designed for multi, that Site lock was going to be an issue.  Luckily I didnt run up against Gabe or I would have taken another loss  ;)

Rd. 3 jake fountain.  He was a nice opponent but he kept texting on his phone the whole time so there wasnt much conversation.  I dont remember much else about hte game but I took it 7-3

The next three games wer Bruising!

Rd 4 Nate Mashuda.  I rode up to Nats with Nate and enjoyed getting to know him.  I know that for the first 4 LS's I just tore him up.  Walking in for most of it and when his D shoed up, I spanked it pretty good.  Then he got it set up.  I played Sog/NJ defensively and then he just began to break through my defense which deceidedt to hide.  Finally got the last one fter any previous blocks/.

Rd5 Scott Hooper.  These last two games really showed me a weakness in the deck.  I was pretty vulnerable to Fbtn.  Scott liked to go in with Jake and play Answer to prayer to pull out Benniah (wa).  First time he did that I was like "hey ..whaa?"  Then I realized..this would be a long game.  he brutalized me and had me down 53 when I got my Anb played to reset the game.  He then went on a bit of a drought and let me walk in for a few.   Rescued his 6th, I rescued my 6th and then finally my 7th and he didnt have anything to block.  TO rescue my 7th I was a bit hesitant because I didnt really have enough offense to be sure of the win but I could tell that he was tense by his body language and He had nothing in terrotory (but he had played uzzah blocks from hand before so that didnt really fool me.)  SO I decided to go in and test the waters and it turned out he didnt have anything to block with so it was a walk in win.

Rd. 5 Count fount - This was a great game.  I had a great time adn once again FbtN brutalized me early.but then I got an Anb played and Craig went on a 27 card defensive drought that allowed me to walk in for all the LS's I needed to win.  AnB saved my Bacon in both of those games.  Without the reset I would have lost.
