Received the 4th Edition starter decks late yesterday afternoon. Everything looks great except that the cards are cut slightly shorter than other Redemption cards. I am working with the printer to get replacement decks but that will take at least another 30 days if not longer. Many tournament hosts scheduled tournaments in July specifically to use the new cards. We already had some orders drop shipped straight from the printer and others are shipping this week.
There are card size variations and edge variations between TeP cards, 10th Anniversary cards, Priests cards and now at least some (if not all) of the 4th Edition cards and tin #26 cards. We have tried to be consistent during these last 18 years but, sometimes it just fails.
Therefore, I am making it an official rule that tournament decks must be sleeved.
This is not a huge stretch for most players who already sleeve. It has not been a firm rule especially in Closed Deck - 2 Player. It is now.
Players are encourage to bring sleeves to tournaments and hosts are strongly encouraged to have sleeves available for sale at tournaments.
Blessings,
Rob

Thanks so much Rob. This is definitely a step forward for the game.
I'd also like to remind people to bring extra sleeves in case some break.
-
Roy has always had this rule and its always worked well.
-
Are clear sleeves still allowed then?
-
Rob,
I see there being no problem with this. Most other CCG's require card sleeves at tournament level play so this something that most people who have converted from other CCG's will be familiar with it. And though I currently am not hosting tournament I try to keep at least a 100 extra sleeves of a color I don't use just in case someone needs them. Awesome new rule.
In Christ,

Does this apply to booster draft too?

All categories, Josh -- both open and closed.
Peace and Blessings.

Does this apply to booster draft too?
Yes. Moreover, this is not only due to card variations. Too many times players have mixed up their cards during a game and gone to their next match either missing cards or having extra cards (frequently Lost Souls). Sleeves will help with all of the above.

Rob
but rob, one other issue.
not only that in booster draft but I seem to recall our game from nationals last year and the problem being; the sleeves we were using last year for our decks were the SAME color

there is less of a chance that you will be using the same color sleeves, and if you are that concerned about it mark your sleeves with something unique. Sign them. Draw a pretty picture. Something like that.

*On the front of the sleeves.

As long as it's exactly the same for all your sleeves. ;)

Necropost I know, but can you use clear sleeves provided they are all the same size?

IIRC the sleeves must be opaque. It doesn't say that in the original post but I'm almost positive that is the rule, I'm just not sure where I saw it. To have see through sleeves would defeat the purpose for this rule implementation since the reason is to conceal different sized cards.

I was thinking that this was the way it was but I wanted to check.
