Title: Standard Sealed Supplies? Question for Tournament Hosts
Post by: TechnoEthicist on June 26, 2012, 09:56:18 AM
Hey all,

I haven't run sealed in a good LONG time...so I want to make sure I have enough boosters. If I'm expecting 15-20 players for sealed how many fo each booster should I have?

5-10 Limited, Prophets, and Apostles?
How many Patriarchs, Kings, Priests, and AW?

I would say 15 of each at minimum, and probably 20-25 of each for Priests and Kings (the two most popular packs for sealed in my experience).

Really?  I've found Pats to be more popular than Priests at the Sealed decks I've seen.

My group seems to heavily favor Apostles, Pats and then kings and Priests.  Prophets, angel wars, unlimited are rarely chosen.

Perhaps. I like at least 1-2 Priests/Kings because you can get a ton of big characters, and all of the cards have abilities, most of which can be useful in Sealed. You can sometimes get lucky with Pats or Apostles to get support for the decks, but I would rarely if ever take more than one of them, whereas I may take 2 Priests or 2 kings depending on how I was feeling. Priests are good because Teal Heroes are in general big and can have useful Sealed Deck abilities (especially if you get Phinehas or Ahimaaz and an enhancement or two to go with them). Kings are good because of the WC banders and FBTN Heroes.

Last year at Nats I drafted 1 Pats and 2 Kings. I got lucky with the Pats pack (ANB) and got a few excellent cards with the Kings as well (I believe I got both Provisions and Amaziah with a small Israelite King, which is huge). I ended up placing second, so if that sways anybody, all the better.  :)
