Title: Scoring Multi-Player (Please help quick!)
Post by: Crashfach2002 on January 20, 2013, 05:54:44 PM
OK guys, I can't get my excel scoring thingy to work and my brain has also quit working.  Please let me know what the game score is for these games!

Table 1:
Player 1 - 3 LS
Player 2 - 4 LS
Player 3 - 2 LS
Player 4 - 3 LS

Table 2:
Player 1 - 4 LS
Player 2 - 4 LS
Player 3 - 3 LS

Multi player scoring is tricky when there is a timeout win.

Table 1 should be:
Player2-2 points
Player1,3&4 - 2/3 each

Table 2 should be:
Player1&2 - 1.25 points each
Player3 - .5

In a timed out game everybody receives some points just like in a 2-player game.

Chris Bany has a scoring spread sheet for 3,4and 5 player multi player games giving the correct scoring for every possible outcome. I just have a hard copy. If I find my computer copy I'll post it. Otherwise Bany will send it to you.

Table 1 should be:
Player2-2 points
Player1,3&4 - 2/3 each
Actually I think I'd do it slightly different to show the difference between the 3LS players and the 2LS players.  I'd probably give:
Player 1 - 0.75 pts
Player 2 - 2 pts
Player 3 - 0.5 pts
Player 4 - 0.75 pts

Table 2 should be:
Player1&2 - 1.25 points each
Player3 - .5
This is what I would do as well.

I agree with your logic. I was just following the" Official" multi player scoring guide. Apparently it doesn't matter the number of lost souls you got if you didn't have the most.

Perhaps it's time to make a new multi-player official scoring sheet :)

I'm sure I've missed something but we could start with something like this:

3-player timeout
A - 4 = 1
B - 4 = 1
C - 4 = 1

A - 4 = 1.25
B - 4 = 1.25
C - 3 = 0.5

A - 4 = 2
B - 3 = 0.5
C - 3 = 0.5

A - 4 = 2
B - 3 = 0.75
C - 2 = 0.25
     4-player timeout
A - 4 = 1.25
B - 4 = 1.25
C - 4 = 1.25
D - x = 0.25

A - 4 = 1.5
B - 4 = 1.5
C - 3 = 0.75
D - 2 = 0.25

A - 4 = 2
B - 3 = 0.75
C - 3 = 0.75
D - 2 = 0.5

A - 4 = 2
B - 3 = 1
C - 2 = 0.5
D - 2 = 0.5

A - 4 = 2
B - 3 = 1
C - 2 = 0.75
D - 1 = 0.25
     5-player timeout
A - 4 = 1.5
B - 4 = 1.5
C - 3 = 1
D - 2 = 0.75
E - 1 = 0.25

A - 4 = 2
B - 3 = 1

I may have missed something, but I looked over that sheet twice and didn't see anything I thought was bad. Excellent work. :)

This is why I use the Tournament Tracker spreadsheet... It takes care of all this for you and you don't have to think about it.
