Title: Question about hosting District tournaments
Post by: FresnoRedemption on August 07, 2009, 06:22:49 PM
Well, it's really more about having Closed Deck and Booster Draft at our tournaments.

Provided we're hosting a District tournament, where Closed Deck and Booster Draft are required, how do we get the booster packs and starter decks for the tournament? Do we just pick them up wherever Redemption packs are sold? Do we order them from the website? Do we order them when we submit our tournament application?

Basically, are we responsible for getting the starters and boosters on our own, or do we buy them when we submit our tournament applications and the powers-that-be will send the supplies to us?

Thanks!

One of the changes being suggested by Rob is to eliminate the requirement for all categories at a District. You would have to just plan for at least 5 categories (although I hope this changes to 4).

As of now, you would need to provide supplies yourself. I would recommend finding a distributor in your area.

I only know of one, but I don't know how much I can depend on them to supply it. Though if I'm going to start hosting tournaments and can guarantee they'll be able to sell their Redemption cards, then perhaps that would be incentive for them to keep their selection diverse.

If you mean a bookstore, then you could try to hold tournaments in the store and have the participants purchase the supplies from the store.

I was referring to regional distributors who may offer discounts. In the Northeast, Roy Cruz and John Michalihskdbforuwbzn were distributors that made all my tournaments possible.

Yeah, I meant a bookstore, but that might be a good idea. I'll have to find out. But I did just receive a PM from a distributor that I may be able to follow up on.

But I'm in the southwest region, which is nice because I'd probably have a distributor whose last name I can spell. :D

I meant Rob Anderson, not you.  ;)

4)  For District I will require only 4 events.  For State and Regional events I am only going to require Hosts to offer five events and only two specific events are mandatory for District, State and Regionals...
