Everyone, I had been throwing an idea around, and it seems to be within the rules, so I wanted to put it out the larger area and see your ideas.

Essentially, I'm looking to host (likely in July) a Local level tournament with a twist.  There will only be two categories, T12P and T22P.  We will have an elimination style tournament (I know there has been interest in this in the past).

The morning session would be a 3-round Swiss-style tournament for both types.  The final standings would not win the tournament (though there may be small prizes that are unofficial).  Rather, that would be the seeding for the afternoon session: An Elimination tournament (most likely Single, if we get enough interest).  This would lead to fair seeding (the main reason most hesitate at the idea), as your morning performance could lead to better seeding (possibly a bye depending on size of tournament, too), but you'd still be able to play a different style of tournament.

Who would be interested in this if I were to put it together?  I've already received word that this would be a legal style for an official tournament.

I think personally that this could be a great opportunity, as you'd still be guaranteed 4 games, but once eliminated players can compare decks, notes, and cards to better prepare for Nationals (if going) when we really get no 'downtime' normally to do this and fellowship with one another.  Let me know what you think.

it totally depends on the dates in july but i am pretty sure i could get jerome myself zepp 2 johnson boys, sean and a couple more to go bc i would drive just depends on the date ur looking at

I would mostly like to see who is interested in the idea, then put up a poll or see what dates everyone is available.

Yes, yes, yes!!  We actually do this at Creation - John ends the week with a bracket style competition that takes into account your performance throughout the week.  I've really enjoyed doing that the past two years and would definitely try to do more.  I won't be available the weekend of July 14.

I really like the concept, but How about hosting two seperate tournamets on the same day, A Sweed in the morning and an elimination based on how the Sweed's placing end's up.

I'd love to be involved in this, but my wife will be ready to give birth to our first child.  So, I won't be able to make it.  It sounds like it could be a blast!

How about you guys just do Swiss with Top Cut?

I don't think we can hold two "official" tournaments of the same category in the same day.  This is why I suggested having the Swiss style by the unofficial one (since we rarely do an Elimination officially).

I'd love to try it but it all depends on the location and timing.

The tournament would be in Hanover PA at Hanover Wesleyan Church (701 Black Rock Road). This would be MY first time hosting a tournament, so I would love to have as much help as I can. I know Brad, Marti, and Shawn could help me with advice.

After talking to players at MD States, I will be hosting an elimination tournament in Hanover, Pa on August 4th. I want to have the college students participate before they return for the semester, and it would be a good practice for the few players going to nationals. I'll create a new thread for the specific details. See you all there!
