Title: Online Local
Post by: Alex_Olijar on June 16, 2016, 08:54:12 PM
Am I allowed to host a closed local online thru lackey?

My guess would sure, as long as you are alright getting the Promo in a Lackey version.  ;D

But I am honestly not sure. I would be curious to know this as well.

I'd be willing to pay shipping for people to get promos

I guess the only problems might be sealed/booster, and prize cards/packs. Cool thought though!

With locals you only have to select one category to host

You can also Boost via Lackey. I'm not sure exactly how it would work in a tourney format as far as saving decks and such but it's certainly possible.

It is also possible to play sealed via Lackey.

So no one would actually have to own any of the cards they use in a tournament. That would save a fortune in buying packs, especially if you don't already have Shipwreck and The Second Coming.

Yeah. It's only a local too so it's not like there's much chance to abuse it to get the packs and promos. It's just a way for those away from local tournaments or without high level cards to enjoy a tournament setting.

Not to mention a chance for people from Australia, Canada, and Germany to participate in your tournament. ;D

If you are going to do it, you should play TEAMS.  Make people carry out their coded messages via the Lackey chat text...

So, sweet baby James is hanging out in Chaleton and...
Chaleton?  Did you mean Charleston or Chalet town?
"Chalet town?" We don;t have anything named "Chalet town?"
Yeah, but I thought you might be making a coded reference to skier Ingemar Stenmark.
Why wouldn't I just say "Ingemar Stenmark?" They don't know what that means.
Oh yeah, true that. Carry on...
So sweet baby James is hanging out in CHARLESTON with Raford...
"Raford?"  Is that supposed to be "Ray Ford?"

tournaments like this would be sweet. I would pay for shipping of promos and prizes for my self if i was ever allowed to play in one! I like this idea!

We have root that is an online tournament that gives out rnrs points, I would love online tournaments. No prizes necessary, the host would still pay a fee and I would presume the categories be type 1 and 2 2 player only. People might wonder why I say still pay a fee with no prizes, because it is good for the game, and so that everyone doesn't just host online tournaments all the time, although I would also encourage them to be local level only. I just bought a laptop it will get shipped to me June 23rd, so either way I can start playing Lackey, but an online local would be awesome, and motivate people to be active both on the boards, and playing, especially during quieter months.

I would love to see more online play. I guess my only question is what things would make this different than RooT?
Is the main thing that it would be a one day event like a live tournament?

Yeah that's the only difference I see. It's just a one day event, Skype is encouraged. ROOT is still awesome, and I will get on that if I can, but as always, scheduling, I work over nights, multiple reasons that deter me, as well as others from always being active in ROOT, a one day event every now and then would be easily planned, and awesome to attend. An online Type 2 only?

Online locals would be primarily geared to those of us without a consistent playgroup. My playgroup is online. As host, I would specify a time period during which play would occur and require advance notice of participation two days prior to the event in order to ensure time constraints. Lackey would be required and access to an undecided chat client would be required. I would time limit each round at one hour. I would solve ruling disputes as a group (primarily so the host could play) or thru agreed upon third parties.

Would you have prizes or hold off on those? If you did it?
