Thanks for the compliment...but I do think we have the facilities to host a "bigger" tournament.  We have a full size gym, lots of restroom facilities, plenty of resturants close (even hotels for the real big tournaments), a kitchen we could serve food and drink from easily, and plenty of extra space for people to hang out, trade, and just relax.  I really think we could pull off a stellar event here in Middletown.  I admit it is not centralized like Columbus but at least it's not Cincinnati...LOL!  What do you think Schaef?  Also I have an idea about something I we (our playgroup) is calling the "Masters of Redemption Tournament".  It would be a one time only tournament that incorporated anyone nationwide who wanted to play and would include every category of play.  The prize would be 1 of every card variation ever printed.  It would likely be an expensive entry fee since we would likely use it as a fundraiser for a foreign mission trip.  We were thinking $100 per person with a cap of 64 players.  Every player would participate in all six categories of play for a set number of rounds and the player with the top score after all six categories would be crowned the Masters of Redemption champion!  We have the cards for the prize and we have the facilities for the tournament, but I want everyone's feedback on this tournament.  It would be non-sanctioned since the format is different and since every promo Cactus could possibly offer would be part of the prize.  The only thing I think might be interesting is if we could somehow get Cactus to come up with a promo for this one time event only.  What do you think?

I like the idea.  I think that you should at least offer a set of promos for that event though.  Cause at $100 a pop, you need to at least get something.  Probably at least $50 worth of cards in promos.  This just coming from a noobie though, so take it as you will.  Just my 4cents.

My main issue is the level of "rawrg serious must win!" competition on it. I'm a very laid back player and believe fun<>winning...thatd be an issue with it....

True, but if there were a promo or promos that could only be attained at this tournament, would that make it less of a must win?  I understand what you are saying though, but like the Faithful Servant card and the money invested to receive it, this tournament would be benefiting a foreign mission effort, not paying for the big prize because I personally own the cards and will be donating them to the tournament.  Would that make any difference...

I really like the idea, and I agree with RR that this would be a very competitive tourny.  I'm a laid back player myself, so the other guys won't effect me that much.  I do think though that 100 bucks is too much for the tourny, in my opinion.  I don't know the value of all the cards, but in comparison, to win a regional tourny (Cincy for example), you get a $7000 trip to Hawaii, and the entry fee is only 10bucks.

Was compare'n this "tourny of champions" to a regional madden tourny.  Basically trying to compare the costs for the rewards.

i think u should need to pre order a ticket for this.and a promo is sent with the ticket.then u get a promo or more for showing up(with a ticket),and if u went with the ticket idea i think it should be like $50.

I'm just thinking from a businessman standpoint.  How much does it cost to go to the nationals tourny?  If your other tourny is more than the nationals, I would think it costs too much.  I do like the idea of a tourny of champions though, but with $100 a pop and being located in Ohio, i think most top players won't be there.  If it was cheaper with the same prize, then I think you'd get a better pool of the top players.

So how about $50 a player?  Would that be worth it...you know...for top players to make the trip?

$50 seems to me like a pretty fair price.  And that's come'n from some1 in WV.  So my trip wouldn't be that long anyway.  But I really do like the idea, and with $50 as the price, i think it would be a fair deal.

I really appreciate your ideas about the tournament.  Does anyone else have ideas about the tournament that would make it better and more appealing to more players?

So does that mean that I would get more people to play if I banned you from the tournament than if I allowed you to play?   ;D
