??/?? - NY States (Jon Greeson to host in ??)
Unofficially, it'll be May 6/7, at his church in Little Genesee.  Also: does John M.'s Creation blowout deserve some recognition?

The above quote is correct.  I'm just waiting for Rob to make it official on the website...all paperwork has been turned in and money sent.  Please, save May 6/7 and come visit/join me for NY States!

EDIT:  The New York State tournament dates are now official!  :police:

Is nothing really happening in PA for states? This is a sad, sad thing (I haven't made it for the past few years cause MD is closer)

If something doesn't come to pass... idk. Maybe I'll be ambitious. :)

I just sent an important E-mail blast to the Region requesting transport and lodging pool efforts.  Per Shawn, just one group alone plans to travel to MD from VA with around 20 players.  Thus, all the more we must make every effort to inform Shawn if you are planning to crash at the church on Friday night.

Shawn has also confirmed his 'okay' for tents to be pitched on church grounds.  This year might boast an all-time attendance record!  Keep it up, North East Region!

Please PM or E-mail me if you wish to be included in the region's E-mail exchange, if you are not yet in.

Peace and blessings!

It may be just me, but I'm trying to talk two people into going with me.  If it is just me, then I hope to crash at the church.  If I bring people, then I plan to get a room.  Right now, I'm trying to get past NY states before making travel plans to Regionals.

A couple of updates. One, if you are planning on staying at the church for lodging, PM me. While Shawn's church is good size, we will not be able to have space for ALL participants to sleep comfortably.

Two, I will have singles available for sale, all sales from the weekend will contribute to my monthly goal and potential winner for a set of regional promos. I will also have Disciples, TEP, and other packs for sale as well.

Three, I will be running a special for those of you coming to regionals who would be willing to trade away your Goliath promo for $50.00 worth of my opened stock (some exclusions apply, PM for details).

Can't wait to see everyone in three weeks!

I notice on page 1 that three events are being run at the same time.  Not to stir the pot so close to tournament time, but I'm wondering if T2 Multi can be played after the TEAMS event is done.  If not, then I know what I will play, but if it is possible then bonus!

Also, I have two general questions.  My son, who is 8 is likely coming (I don't think they have taken the day away for makeup snow days), and his reading is a bit slow for the more complicated cards.  I try to prep him as much as possible.
      1) What starters are planned for the sealed deck?
      2) Can I help my son prep his deck after he picks his 3 packs?

I can't wait until tournament time!

Unfortunately I do not think we can break out the T2 Multiplayer category.  We are already going to finish around 9, moving a long running category like T2 Multi to start at 9 gives us an unsatisfactory end time, especially considering the 8am start time for Saturday's events.

Also, I have two general questions.  My son, who is 8 is likely coming (I don't think they have taken the day away for makeup snow days), and his reading is a bit slow for the more complicated cards.  I try to prep him as much as possible.

For these questions:
1) The starters are gong to be G/H.
2) I am sorry but the answer is no.  If this were a local or a district it would be different.  Also we have several other children close to his age who play and build there own decks for that category.  It would allow an unfair advantage for him over them, especially since they also have players that would desire to help them build their decks if allowed.

I can't wait until tournament time!

I can't wait to meet you.  It's getting so close! :)

Thanks for you your prompt reply!
I figured you couldn't split with the lateness of the request, but it was worth a shot.   :)

As for my son, I understand...again it was worth asking.  I may have him and his mom pair in TEAMS then.

With a lot of young ones there, will there be a Type A category?  Or should he plan to play in the T1 categories?

I know it is an official tournament and all, but I think soul seeker should be able to help his son. (or at least ask everyone who will be playing)  I am 27 years old and I will be playing in closed deck that night, so I think it would help level the playing feild. The point is for them to have fun and grow in their knowledge of the bible.  How are we encouraging them if all we do is beat them, especially if there is no type A (I do not know if their is type A or not...)  I do not want to berate anyone, I am just concern for those who are younger and would have just started playing.

Jason

While I appreciate your input I am firm in my decision.  If I allowed him to help his son, why can't I help my little brother who is also planning on competing?  And if we help them how is that fair to the other children his age who have no one to help them?  What if a new player comes from somewhere else, and has no one to help them?  Should they stand even less of a chance because they don't have assitance for their deck construction?  How would that be fair?  I understand that the game is for the purpose of fun and fellowship but we also have to recognize that some players have been honing there skill in that particular category all year for the purpose of doing well at regionals and to stack the playing field against them could potentially destroy as much fun and fellowship, if not more.  I too am concerned for the new players, but I believe we need to be fair.  I prayed about my decision before speaking to the hosting team(not just myself) and this is the decision we were led too.  I am sorry if you do not agree with it.

It is not that I diagree with it, I just thought there might be a better way.  I am an educator by career choice, and I see many scenes of unfairness to smaller children, especially from older or more expierenced ones.  I do not see any way around the situation and I trust in the wisdom you have been given, and that you made your decision with.  I do not want to sound negative or hostile, just concerned.

I really hope I did not upset you, I just wanted to share my concerns.  What you said really made me think and realize that you had not made the decision lightly, and I never thought you did.  I want the best for all the players and see the kingdom increase for any reason, not just redemption.  I am sorry if I oofended you.

Sincerely Jason

Oh no need for concern, I am not offended.  I appreciate the feedback.  :)  I apologize if I seemed overly harsh in my response, it wasn't my intention.  I don't like seeing young people get there feelings hurt either but in competitive environments that can be very difficult to do.  I just hope that the older players are as gracious and kind as they can be.  This is still just a game in the end.

I am tentatively trying to make it there, and am in talks with John M. about a ride. If that doesn't work out, is there anyone who might be swing by Mifflinburg (45 minutes north of Harrisburg) to pick me up? I'm low on cash, so I'm trying to avoid spending anything (beyond what it would take for someone to go out of their way to get me) on gas.

Cronic: I'll be coming from Oneonta, NY, and travelling right past Harrisburg.  Mifflinburg looks out of my way, but doable.  Gas money would be helpful, but I also insist that people travelling with me bring a good story to share.

Roy is bringing packs, his carrying cases, and other miscellaneous items (including sleeves for closed events.

I know that Rob isn't accepting them, but it would help me out tremendously if you did accept it for tournament fees. Obviously though, I understand if that's not an option.

Sorry for the double post. Is anyone looking for a TEAMS partner on Friday night?

Hey guys, this is far from an official announcement, but please pray for the tournament tomorrow, as well as people travelling. The area is getting hit pretty hard by a storm.

No storm yet, just some T-storm warnings for tomorrow.  But we should all pray for safe travel, and for the tournament as well.

I'll be bringing two other Raiders and Apathy with me.  However, we might be late (seven hours on the road, plus some).

I want to say thank you to Shaun, Marti, Brad, the check in helpers, our judges, and everyone else that contributed to this wonderful regional tournament. Also thank the lovely ladies for making us competitors food. This was a success in my book!! I hope to see the local crowd at States, and to see the rest of you at Creation.

I'm sure at least 20 of those 100 are due to Rita's Water Ice!
