Starting a generic regional thread until the specifics are set...
I am putting in a bid for the NE Regional for the weekend of May 16-17, 2014 in Colts Neck, NJ. The hosts will be the Braun family, but anyone who would like to pitch in (judges, please!) would be welcome. The only element I still need to finalize is the events that will be offered. I am planning on 6 events (max), with two on Friday and four on Saturday. I don't see any way to make a 7-event Regional work due to time constraints.
Definites: T1-2P, T2-2p, T2-multi, Booster, Sealed
Optional: Teams, T1-multi
I'm leaning toward Teams, although we haven't had a lot of teams players here, there have been good groups around the region. T1-multi tends to be a "one table" affair here.
I'm willing to accept input on this. I'm sending my application in with the final event kind of fuzzy (if Rob will allow that), but it will be set before the event. Also, if you plan to just come on Saturday, what events would you be looking for? I'll do my best to accommodate as many as possible.

Is it possible to sleep at the church, or are there any other free lodging opportunities?
I would suggest a schedule sort of like this (times may need adjusted):
Friday, May 16th
5:00pm - Registration
6:00pm - T2MP/Teams
Saturday, May 17th
8:00am - T12P/T22P
12:00pm - Lunch
3:00pm - Booster/Sealed
8:00pm - Awards

I expect to have some space for crashing at the church, but it may be limited. There are bathrooms, but no showers. I'll have more details once everything gets pulled together.

I like the schedule Chris put forward, and agree with the sentiment that Teams > T1MP may be best. I know that the NY group has a few people who like Teams a lot, and I have fun with it much more than T1MP. That schedule would also get people to have the best opportunity to play what they want.

The only problem with that schedule is that both Closed Deck categories run together, so you have to choose one or the other. That might leave one of them short of players, depending on preferences.

Alex u want a team mate if they go teams? Just saying I kind sorta like you and would love to be ur team mate. That is if ur available. (Said bashfuly with my hands behind my back and looking down, trying to be cute but I'm so intimidated).

That's what they all said so far, I guess no one wants me for a team mate. It's ok your only the 8th one to tell me that and I know I'll see all of you there. If I can even muster the emotional strength to go now.

@clift I would love to do tht but I high doubt I will be able to make nationals this year. I would need someone who would be willing to basically give me a ride there and back. . . . Kids change everything. But so worth it

Martin won't be there. It's still sort of up in the air on whether I'll make it or not, but if I do, I'll definitely do Teams with you, Josiah.

If you have any suggestions for the schedule, let me know-it's not set in stone yet. Also, I need to know who wants to stay at the church on Friday night as soon as possible.
Note the scheduling snafu I am stuck with and the drawing for preregistrants.
Unfortunately, I can't make this a free entry like I do for my locals and districts. I just can't eat all the expenses for this myself. (If you buy stuff from me at the tournament, that will also help, and maybe allow me to supplement the prize drawing...)

Hi, I'm bringing in the trophies for NE Regionals. I am bringing all 7 categories. Is anyone up for a Friday (late night) type 1 multi-player? We can go to a hotel site if space and timing are a problem.
I would just hate it if we didn't at least "offer" all the events.

If you want to try to squeeze in a T1 multi, I'll check with Rob about getting the event added. Right now I only have the support for the six events I had planned. So is there interest in T1 multi? IT would have to be either added late Friday night or run against the current event schedule.

I'd totally be up for some late-night Multi on Friday. It's not a serious category, so I see no reason to treat it like one.

Just put a very simple pre-reg form on the web page. You can indicate events you'd like to play in the comments box, but it's not required. Do let me know if you want to play T1 multi-I'm not seeing a surge of interest yet.
