Apparently, Eutychus thought Paul's Sunday Sermon was a 4/4.

Wow these new "self" cards are really cool.  :)
What happens when you have the new "you" and "self" in play? Wouldn't that be a duplicate card?
Too bad I can't make it to Nats to get one. :-\
So I must take out my frustrations in creative ways.  :P

When I gleefully Christian Martyr one of these "nationals only specialized player cards," wouldn't that mean I automatically win the game since I killed my opponent?   ;D

Other Prof, you definitely should add this to your quotes.

I like this idea, but these heroes should not be competitive and have special abilities. It's a genius novelty that would be completely unique to Redemption, but shouldn't have an effect on tournament play, especially being that it's only available to Nationals attendees.

but you see, I wanted to throw down my "Andrew Wester" card, activate Windows of Narrow Light and rip off my shirt to reveal that I'm superman.

As appealing as that is, I do not believe it is appropriate for a Christian environment. :P

You realize that was a joke...right? I really do not want to see anyone's shirt taken off at a Redemption tournament. :P (Especially not a guy's. ;))

My understanding is that there will be more than just banding abilities. Generic heroes won't have a big effect on game play, even if they have identifiers, but something like an NT Musician with two special abilities would be very competitive.

I think the idea is great and nothing like I've heard of before. However, if they are only a novelty for National attendees, I think they should not have both SAs and identifiers (either/or would be fine).  Or if they are to be tournament viable, they should be available on Cactus' website or through some other promotion (in addition to Nationals).

+1 I agree that they should be available AFTER nationals for non national attendees. Just like Nats goers get first shots at the new set.

+1 It seems almost sickening to me that this option will be available only to those who have the time and money to go to nationals.

I disagree with the above 3 posts...I think it is a great way to celebrate a Redemption milestone and to encourage attendance.
@ JDS:  if you cut the cards to worthlessness, then who would spend the money to make the card?  they are carefully making sure that the cards are not OPed.  I don't see why you are arguing this unless you plan a) not to show to Nats or b)on not getting the cards and you want to rain on everyone else's parade.
@ those who can't attend Nats:  I feel for you, but that doesn't negate what a great opportunity this is.

I will be attending Nationals and getting one of these cards, I just don't think they should be powerful enough to put all the people who don't have them at a competitive disadvantage.

The NT Musician is one example that especially concerns me, as it will be the only NT Musician in the game, and that would clearly be a big help to any competitive musicians deck. I have also helped play test the Disciples, and I don't think it's revealing something new to say that NT heroes with identifiers will soon be even more tournament viable.

I think if they had only identifiers or only special abilities, they would still be useful, but as it sounds now, I believe they could have too much impact on tournament decks to be so exclusive.

... competitive musicians deck.
Hopefully the fact that Musician is an option means that this will no longer be an oxy-moron after the next set...:P

Seriously though, I think it is a good idea not to have identifiers. Keep the abilities, but the identifiers add a level of power which is too high for a card which only one person can use (as JDS said, especially for musicians).

Al least for me, such a change will not affect whether or not I buy a self card. If I can make it to nationals and if I have enough money to spare when I do, I will be buying one of these cards, powerful or not. I think having a legal card of myself is worth every penny I pay.

Well, if they're going in the REG after they are made... then that means they'll likely end up in RTS for all to use.  ;)

Wow... I've missed this thread for a month... snap. I must say, something this cool I REALLY wish is something we could pay to have done. I mean... you get to be a redemption card! That's amazing and makes me REALLY wish I could go to nationals.  :-[ Oh well...

Can you give us an idea when we get to know those?
John will post one template per week with the special ability options, beginning sometime soon.

I'm very interested to start seeing these.  Does anyone have information on when these "previews" might start?
Have you visited the Land of Redemption today?

And I'm looking forward to seeing reactions.  :)

Talk to John M. about start dates for the previews.  I'm guessing soon (although that was my guess a month ago, so...).
