Title: MN State ThinkTank--TC Players
Post by: Professoralstad on May 08, 2011, 05:31:45 PM
So Regionals was fun, but I decided to repurpose this thread to talk about MN State. I will be making the trip, and like Regionals, I can likely borrow my parents' van for a carpool. I have six total seats, so if you need a ride from the TC-area let me know. All I would need is money for gas (probably about $10 or so depending on how many people come with me). First priority goes to the people who rode with me to Regionals, but I know that at least one of those people will be out of the country, so I will for sure have 1 open seat. I will also leave the thread open for others who may have room in their cars for rides.

I'm going, but I'm not sure when I can go. My graduation party is until 4, so I'm not going be able to make it for the first event.  I'm not sure about the second event. I'm still looking to carpool though, if somebody is planning on going down Sunday night or early Monday morning. Last time, with Bill, I met him just off of I-35, which isn't at all out of the way for either of us.

It's possible that Justin will have to work Sunday afternoon, in which case he might have to miss Sunday night's event as well. If that turns out to be the case, perhaps he and whoever else might have that situation could meet you along the way.

Hey Dudes,

I'll be going, I can take 2 with me in a car. You'd have to hook up somewhere in Roch though.

When will regionals be? I can't go anytime from June 10-24, and probably not during the July 15-18 weekend, although that is a bit more flexible.

And also when will states be? Same unavailable dates for that.

I should put that on the first post. Regionals is Memorial Day weekend, Sunday night and Monday during the day. May 29-30.

States will be in Austin, June 16-17. So looks like that might not work for you.  :(

Noob >:c.

I'll be looking to carpool if our group isn't going.

Seriously? On a Monday? And before State? Is that some kind of record?

It's the first time that I know of. But it's after Iowa State. And pretty much everyone has Memorial Day off.

Perfectly the absolute wort possible time. I will be in Spain then. :(

Well, that was just poor planning on your part. States has been that weekend in June for probably the past three years at least...But hey, you'll be in Spain.

MN isn't actually having a state tournament this year. We're just pretending to have one to lure Tim into his surprise party.

Also, I'm allowed to use Laban at Regionals, right?

Will Pizza Ranch be open in austin by that time?

In addition to getting down there we need to coordinate a pizza ranch run. Me and My dad were thinking about goin' down a litte early to eat before it starts but any other time is cool too. The problem is that they close really early because its iowa so finding another time might be difficult.

That's another thing: when are people planning on going down/coming back? I am available to leave anytime Saturday or Sunday, and would probably be okay coming back on Tuesday morning, but would prefer getting back on Sunday night/early Monday morning (I plan on staying for all events).

Will Pizza Ranch be open in austin by that time?
I hope it opens soon, I haven't been there in like 3 years. They've been taking applications so I think it opens soon, but I haven't been paying attention.

All I care about is getting down in time for the first event. Coming back whenever: I'd rather not stay in a hotel or something and going off in the morning, but I'm willing to if need be.

Really really really really really angry right about now. And that doesn't usually happen. I can't go. Some of my family and a friend who lives far away and I only get to see once a year at best are staying until Monday afternoon. It's a lose/lose situation, and I figure Friends and Family should come before Redemption (of course, some of you are like family...)

In other news, I'm looking into flying to another Regionals...any suggestions?

Midwest, skip MN state. I'm going to that one ;) You'd only need a one-way ticket too, since I'm driving back with my Dad.

Definitely going to look up tickets now. Are you willing to play Sauce's Teams deck which isn't currently built?

Nope, I'm playing teams with Mark Underwood. Not sure exactly where I'm flying into as I don't think Dad has actually legit booked my tickets yet - It's changed a few times.....

Please submit applications, resumes, and references no later then whenever the tournament starts. You must be able to win ez ez ez ez.

I am 99.9% sure I will be attending both and could be a teams partner for both.
Put me down for coming and I would prefer to carpool with anybody.

Man that stinks andrew, it won't be as fun without you

Sauce, I know martin is looking for a partner for both, maybe, but he played with josh last year at regions and josh will be at both. I would be willing to play with you at states if for some reason chris doesn't want to play. But i am guessing you don't want to consort with the enemy.

With a little over a week to go, I'd like to get this a bit more organized. Basically, I would like to find out who is driving, how many they can seat, and who needs a ride. I will modify the first post; if you are driving, post here with how many seats in your car, how many of those are already occupied, and who is with you so far.

Also, there is a game night at North Heights next Friday night. It is likely to be a sort of Regionals prep night, so if you are planning to make it to Regionals, you should try to make it next Friday.

My dad is driving

we have 5 seats (although one is the middle and might be cramped)

Martin says he is prolly going, my dad is driving , I am riding with them, and my friend from school is going with us too. So that means we are full, but if absolutely nescessary we could fit a person in the middle.

Thomas and Helen are driving down. (type A tournament just got a little tougher). They have room for 2 but they are coming back after 2 player is finished on Monday afternoon. So if someone doesn't want to stay to the very end they could ride with Thomas.

I need a ride down with someone and possibly a ride back to the Twin Cities so could anyone give me one?

I have confirmed that I will be able to borrow my parents' van for the trip, so you are more than welcome to ride with me. As long as you are able to help pay for gas, and are able to stay for the whole tournament (probably getting back to the cities around midnight-1:00 Tuesday morning I would guess.

Anyone else who needs a ride to and from the Cities, and can follow similar guidelines as above, I have room for 6 total. So far it's just me and Britta who have confirmed spots. Gas contribution would likely be about $20, assuming I can get enough people.

I plan to leave after the 9:00 AM service at North Heights Arden Hills (though we may meet up with other cars in the caravan somewhere, we'll probably figure out those details on Friday night at game night). I don't mind picking anyone up as long as you are relatively close to being on the way from Arden Hills.

If all that sounds like something you could do, let me know and I'll reserve your spot in the official party van!

Will you have a lot of trunk space or will I just have to pack the essentials?
Thanks for the generous offer.  :D
Note: I am extremely sure I will be able to make it to the game night but just in case I'm not there I will email you.

Sounds good. There should be plenty of space in the back of the van; 6 members of my family took a weeklong trip to Missouri in that van recently. Will you be able to meet after the North Heights service at 9:00? Also, in case your parents would like to know, I am 23, I have been driving for five years with no accidents, and I have never been pulled over for speeding. Let them know that they can email me with any questions, jsalstad@gmail.com.

Indeed not. He has a Boy Scout event on Monday night that he is required to attend. So sadly he can't come with us. Britta and I will be the only representatives from Fortress Alstad at the tournament, as Justin has to work on Monday (who doesn't get Memorial day off? Seriously.)

John--It's yours if you want it. Is there a way for you to get close to I-35 from where you are? I'm not sure how much out of the way it would be if you couldn't, but I'm guessing it wouldn't be too much difference. Let me know.

Pretty much all I'd need is $20 or so for gas...of course, I'd also be willing to take a Goliath Promo instead, since you'll be going to Midwest regionals... ;)

I request a ride from you once again Jordan.
Please save a seat for me (and possibly my brother) and shoot me a PM so we could work something out.
Thanks for your generosity!

I might need a ride for two from Burnsville. If anyone is going that way and has extra seats, our dad would prefer us carpooling. Sorry if I'm kinda late posting.... :-[

I'm pretty sure my car is full. However, if you contact everytribe or EmJayBee83, they might have room for one or two people. Burnsville is on the way for any of us Twin Cities folks, so we hope you can join us!
