I have a pretty good idea of what all I need to bring with me to Nats but if anyone could put a list of items to remember. I already know the basics like clothes and toiletries stuff but are there items that people realize would of been nice to bring but didn't.
Also I'm kind of wondering who all is going so I can make sure to meet people on the boards so if your going could you put that you are so I can try and get to meet as many people as I can this year at Nats.
The list of things I know I need to bring at this point is this
-Clothes
-Toiletrie items
-Decks
-Trading Cards
-Counting stones
-Money
-Bible (if you don't like using ones placed by the Gideons in hotel rooms)
-Cell Phone (and charger!)
-Storage for new cards (or winnings, if you're that confident in yourself)
-Laptop (to access the REG when Mike updates the REG with the new cards the night before the tournament)
-water, simple snacks
-Ipod/MP3 player
-camera
-sunscreen (for those of us who will attempt to step outside from time to time)
I will add more as I think about it.
-
I should be there. Final planning right now, but I should be in attendance.
-
My wife and I will be there with our -3 month old baby! :) It's our first Nationals (or tournament we've traveled to), so I don't have tips on what to bring...
-
Its my first Nats as well and Ken I am excited to get a chance to meet you.
I am putting a list of things to bring on my main post.

I'll also be attending Nats for the first time. :)
- In regards to money, note that the sales tax in Los Angeles just rose to 9.75% (shoutout to the governor... ::)), so plan accordingly.
- Depending on how you're traveling, it'd probably be good to bring water, simple snacks, etc to have between rounds or to chug down quickly before a pickup game.
- Make sure any watches, iPods, laptops, etc, are in the right time zone (Pacific/Los Angeles).
Who all is planning to be in the area on Wednesday? My family will be driving over Wednesday morning, and I'd like to know if anyone will be around for pickup games or some board games or anything.
-
I am going to the first two days of Nationals. This is my first time too. :D
-
9.75%! I thought it was still 8.25%! Gaarh
-
Fun board games.
I will be there. My name is Brandon West. :)
-
I will be attending. I look forward to meeting many West Coast players for the first time!
Depending on how much room you have in your suitcase, I'd advise bringing a couple favorite board games. Plus a sweet outfit or two. ;)

Since the tournament location is in Ventura County instead of Los Angeles County, the sales tax rate is less. I believe it is 8.25%.
I'll be there on Wednesday, so you'll be able to register and maybe even help setup if you stop by.
Mike
-
Ventura County rules.
-
I plan on getting into the area early wednesday but I want to go to the Angel's game which starts at like 12:05. Then that night I have to pick up Ben Arp from LAX so I haven't decided if I'm going to drive to the motel and rest for a few hours after the game or if I'm going to go to Down Town Disney and walk around for a while. If help is needed at the church to set up I can get there after the baseball game and help for a bit before I run to LAX. I think Ben's flight is at like 8:30 pm or 9:00.
Another thing I've talked with Ben, who is staying in my room and driving home with me about going to like Magic Mountain or Knotts Berry farm on Sunday after the tourney before we go home so if others want to go that would be fun. I wont be able to drive people there and back since we are leaving from there to continue going north.
-
Well, I guess the cats out of the bag. I'm coming to nationals as well.

Darn I ruined the surprise that you already ruined by saying you were registred LOL. Oh and Ben along with having your counters here I also found your flip flops. I'll bring them along as well.
-
Sweet, I was wondering where I left those.
-
Now is the time for everyone to state what they have of Ben's...
I have your green card sleeves and your favorite teddy bear, but don't worry, I've been taking good care of Pooky. ;)
Kirk
-
i have his mom... yeah, what now? :-*

Did you find an extra pair of blue mesh shorts? I can't find mine. And no, I'm not trying to copy Eric "pants may be lost like my shorts" Largent.
The first obstacle to me coming to Nats is taken care of as of today. I worked out a change in the on-call schedule at work. Now on to the next obstacle: money. Everyone keep an eye out for my special sale thread in the market section.
-
Scott as of now I have not seen an extra pair of shorts, unlike last time when I found TJ's shorts and a T-shirt, but I will look.
-
i have his mom... yeah, what now? :-*
That's no kind of talk for a Christian forum young man! /sarcasm
-
Well I'll take my talk and your mom somewhere else Ben. :-*

We had his underwear from Nevada State but returned them cleaned and pressed. :)

Fresno's inbetween them with 8.975% sales tax.
My group and I will be driving down Friday morning for T1-2p and staying one night for the fun Saturday events. Here's hoping that teams are on Friday night :).
-
I should be coming. I just need to complete some last-minute planning. 8)
-
All this talk of Nats is getting me even more excited to go and "beet" people like Ken and Kirk. Wait did I say "beet" I meant "meet".....or did I. ;)
It should be fun and I hope to get a chance to sit and talk with some of you all outside of the tourney time. Can anyone say CHEESECAKE for dinner :)
-
This year DaClock needs to bring something to guard his poptarts ;)

I'm bringing mine...circa 1982!

I'll be there. Haven't played in a while, so I'm pretty rusty. But I'm really looking forward to the new set and using it in Booster Draft!!
-
I shall be there. WOO!
Jeremy
-
I will be there. Also, a friend of mine who is not registered to the Official Redemption Message Board will be there.
-
two weeks from today is the first event so I'm bumping this incase anyone thinks of things I might forget to bring so I can add to my list.
-
- Alarm clock? I guess that's in most cell phones now, though...
- Find a teammate for Teams, and strategize.
- Put a trade book together if you haven't yet.
Also, as for food choices, the 7-11 about a block or two away (near the cheaper hotel) sells pizza for $2/slice or 2/$3.33 or whole pizza for $9.99. There is also a Denny's a couple blocks west of the church (it has free unlocked WiFi, too, and to compare location prices, the Grand Slam is $5.99). It is just west of the Panda Express, Subway, El Pollo Loco, and other random food places.
Also, there is a Del Taco in the same plaza as the Palm Garden hotel, and the hotel has free, unlocked WiFi.
-
Where is the closest In-N-Out?
-
In-N-Out is about 1 mile away on the frontage road on the other side of the freeway.
Mike
-
Only 1.2 miles away. =D
Dang intraposting...
-
In fact, it's right across the freeway from the Palm Garden hotel. There is a walkway that goes over the freeway near there if one wanted to walk across.
-
is there a walkway that goes over the freeway near the Premier Inns?
-
Yes, there is.
-
How about we hold NW at In-N-Out :P
-
Imma be there; just gotta finish som3 l4st minute planning.
-
Accuweather.com is now predicting sunny weather in the mid-80s for the entire week of Nats.
In other news, there is a moon in the sky.
-
warm and sunny weather in southern california in august, I don't believe it. Well that is nice to hear atleast. Almost time to start packing.
-
If anyone in MN is taking a road trip to nats and has some room left, I would be forever in your debt if I could tag along.

MY wife and I looked at the temps a couple of days ago and it's basically thirty degrees less than it is three hours north (it was 112 yesterday) :(.
We both can't wait for Natz (well...she'll be doing other things but we both love how the weather sounds ;D).

Martin Miller is flying out. Flights are as cheap as driving. You should go with him.
Bill
-
Right now, you can get flights from MSP to LAX for $279 roundtrip leaving Thursday evening and returning Sunday morning.
All in all, it's not a bad price.
-
I'm not sure if my parents would be thrilled about that, but I will definitely look into it!
-
Bumping this one last time. Wow Nats is right around the corner, now I'm getting excited and anxious. I'm quite pumped to meet so many people that I "know" but yet don't know yet. Well anyways if anyone can think of last minute items to put on the list that would be great and if not still let us know if you going so we can all plan out who we need to find and meet. ;D
-
I hate this! I have so many different decks that I like and don't know which to take! Speed, royalty, cbn combos, massive defense, solid brigade balances... AGH! *head explodes*
-
Only two and half days away. I need to get away for a few days so Nats is happening at a perfect time. Must be a God thing.
-
Dunno if this question has been asked, but is there any open wifi at the church?
-
Im 90% sure there is
-
Yes, there is.
-
Yes, there is.
99.9999% sure?
-
I twittered (http://twitter.com/RedemptionCCG) on it, so i'm sure.
Which might make now a good time to mention that I created a twitter feed that I will post Nats updates on. (The iPhone makes it difficult to post updates on the boards, with the resolution and all, so I'm going to post via a twitter app.) See link above or below.
I'll also try to write a longer report each night, but it'll depend on how late everyone is up playing.
-
I'm going to bring my rocking laptop so if you want to be the official updater of life SK I'll let you borrow it to let the rest of the redemption world know how we're doing.
-
I'm bringing mine as well, I just don't want to deal with updating on it between rounds.
-
ah, good deal. you mentioned the IPhone so I wasn't sure.
-
that would be great guys seeing as im going to be missing the fun and all
i cant wait to see if the TxP show up...

Just an idea, but what if you made public the twitter password (if, of course, this isn't your normal Twitter feed) so that everyone could post updated to the Nats feed?
-
I'm willing to give it out to people in person at Nats, but I'd like at least that much of a screening process so it doesn't get hijacked by someone on the web or become a big mess. Doing a quick RT is very simple, anyways.

I'll do it if you are interested. I'll find you on Thursday.

For those going to Nats if you run a play group and are in need of commons and uncommons to help with deck building I have tons that I'm willing to part with for like a penny a card. I have about 6,000 cards that I'm looking to get rid off so if you would like a big stack of cards have a few dollars with you and I will gladly hand them over.
