Title: Nationals Updates & Rewards
Post by: soul seeker on August 12, 2011, 12:55:59 PM
Can those of us not at Nationals get an update of rankings and how many played (roughly) in each category?
Also, what is Nationals attendance numbers?

Finally, I have been sadly informed through the "Trumpet Blast!" that I will not win the RNRS title because of Jordan Alstad ( :'(  and  :P at you, Jordan!  ;) ).  However, I think I may have placed 2nd (depending on who was 3rd at Nats).  How will I (or will I) gain my prizes?

P.S.  Don't mention the Twitter feed because I looked at it briefly and that feed was incoherent at best and I could hardly garner any serious information from it.  Reason: I don't speak the "Sauce" language (especially "Sauce" language from a Sauce with so little sleep) to find out what I'm looking for.

I think you got second. I imagine Randall or Roy could take the trophy and such. Just PM me or post here and I can arrange it I guess since I'm not sure anyone else will see this.

Check the SaveQue Facebook in order to keep up with nationals! Also, I got 10 hours of sleep last night.

Also to go along in the same vein: I'm in a three way tie for third in online play rnrs so how is prizing going to work out?

Randall would be the best bet since he is near me and we go to each other's tournaments a LOT.  Al (ORS1949) would be my second choice--I'm not sure if he made Nats this year.

Matt "Mjwaree5" Townsend is our new national champion!

Which means if my math is right...I retained 2nd place in RNRS in T1 2P as well.   ;D

On another eerily similar note, when I won Nats...I lost at the final table at Midwest Regionals.  MJWare lost at the final table of T1 2P at Midwest Regionals and won Nats this year.  aka: the loser of the final table of T1 2P at Midwest Regionals predicts T1 2P Nats winner!

In all non-supersticiousness seriousness, congrats Matt!  Way to persevere!

Incorrect.

It went Gabe, Kittens, Jonathan Majus.

Nevermind. I think you did get second, but I don't remember your name being called?? Not sure what happened.

To one of the best rookies in the game! *Throws a dance party* Congrats Matt.

Incorrect. Matt was legit last year as well. He played at Regs and Nats.

Numbers:

98 in T1 at start
16? in T2 at start
17 in TA at start

Total for Thursday was 104.
88 for Booster Draft and 16 for Type 2 multi.

Type 1 2-player: 98
Type 2 2-player: 20
Type A: 17

So, total for Friday: 135

We spent enough time trying to figure out the number of winners that I memorized the numbers for Type 1 through 5 or so rounds ;)

Alex...or some friend on my behalf...this injustice must be corrected!  Don't let someone walk away with my deserved glory! (I know I'm being dramatic.)  In all seriousness, what's up?  Did someone say something?  Can someone help a brother out?

Randall better not claim my stuff.   >:( >:( >:( ;)

I consider rookie based on number of years playing not tournamts played in/

To be fair Greeson, I was pretty tired so I'm probably wrong.

@Red, its not his first year playing, so I don't see how he could be a rookie.

I consider anyone who has played under two calendar years a rookie. He's played for 1.5.

In defense of Red, even Major League Baseball allows players to be named "rookies" in their second year, as long as they did not play more than a specified number of games in their first year.

It also may not be so bad to be considered the "rookie of the year," even though it will have different views.

I'm fairly certain Jonathan Greeson was called because I remember hearing it and thinking I had hoped he would be there so I could meet him in person...

Well, the feeling is mutual.  It's always great to put a face and personality to the board name.  I had the opportunity to meet your three younger siblings at Kansas City Nationals but missed out on you and Jordan.  I wanted to go to this Nats real bad, but this year's circumstances were too difficult to overcome.  Maybe next year...maybe next year.

On another note, thanks for confirming that they called my name for that category (T1 2P) as well.  Two 2nd place finishes for RNRS isn't too bad when this was suppose to be my "year off."

Sorry, you had your chance.  ;)  This year (after Christmas) I am going full tilt with Redemption: rejoining ROOT, hardcore training for my boys, regular play times with my fledgling play group, studying cards and their possibilities.  Most of my time studying for my Masters (which was immense) will switch to Redemption (my only hobby in the heart of New York winters).  I was lucky that a lot of tournaments fell on school breaks.  This year...I will search for them.   :)

You and me both.  This season will be fun!

Majus and I tied for T1-2P RNRS, and I tied with Kurt Hake (sp?) for T1-MP.

Let me know when you are having big tournaments. If I can afford the airfare, I know you have been generously allowing people to stay at your home. I imagine Orlando is a popular destination so it shouldn't be too bad to get there and it certainly can't cost that much more than gas to various places...

I know you have been generously allowing people to stay at your home.

Not just staying in my home, but staying in my Guest Suite. You get a queen bed, closet, small TV with PS2, private bath with shower, and ceiling fan. Don't forget to bring your bathing suit so you can swim in my screened pool (no bugs).

Contact RTSManiac and ProfUnderwood for references.

I bet all the locks in your house are multi-variable calculus questions.

Wow, now that's luxury! ;)

In my family, if you can open a closet and not have an avalanche of junk, then you are indeed living a life of luxury.  ;)

I bet all the locks in your house are multi-variable calculus questions.

Indeed. That's the only reason my wife has stayed married to me for 18 years. She can't get out!

Congrats on your leap frog...I will have to make more of an effort to defend my 1st place position next time.   8)

Looking at all the competitive decks...I think I would have had a chance, but then again don't we all think we have a chance?

yeah i better just retire myself. Of course having two youngings by them will make my travels difficult anyways.

Better just hand all the NY category wins to you now.
