(From October discussion!)
What categories are we looking at playing for this November tournament? Also, my pseudo-girlfriend would like to come with me to the tournament, and I would be trying to teach her the day before and/or at the tournament itself. Would there be any serious objections? I'd likely bring her even if it was preferred she didn't play in any categories (which I would understand).
Categories: Not sure, I assume it's our normal (Both 2p, both multi, booster). Shawn?
Girlfriend: Of course bring her! You haven't been to enough Maryland tournies to realize we aren't hardcore. We're all about the fun and fellowship, best environment for new players! I may be bringing someone too, but I've got room for all 4 of us in the car.
Other thoughts, I defer to Shawn. :)

Whaa whaa who me? Oh yeah, er-hem. *activates tournament host mode*
5 categories:
T1 2P / T2 2p
T1 MP/ T2 MP
Boostah
Every one is welcome at my tournaments, please bring her. She is also more than welcome to play if she would like. Just make sure she is comfortable playing with people who are very experienced at the game (don't want to scare her off). I am glad you are trying to come, I enjoyed our slight shenanigans at the local. Any questions feel free to ask.

What "slight shenanigans"? You mean me pointing out a fundamental flaw that overshadows every other issue with the game right now (Converted Christian Soldier)? Naaaaw.
Marti, this girl actually goes to Milersville University, so I will be leaving Friday night and spending the night at another friend's place, so I will not, at this moment, need a ride. If something changes and she can't go though, I will definitely take you up on that. =)
Edit: This one is slightly more tricky. At least for Booster (and probably only Booster), would anyone be opposed to Cara (the pseudo-girlfriend) and I being on a "team," so I can coach her through it? I would literally be teaching her the game the night before, and probably using RTS to do it, unless I can scrounge up another deck in addition to my Tournament Winning Booster Draft Deck(c)(tm).

Thos might be the Shenanigans I was speaking of yes. :)

Unfortunatly I cannot accomodate your request. I had the same request last year at Regionals and I would not allow parents to "coach" their children for sealed or booster, so I cannot allow you to "coach" or play as a team with your friend. In the end it is not fair for the other players who may not be as skilled as you, but they have no one to help them. Sorry.

This is a fair and consistent ruling. I have found that the best way to teach Booster is to simply take a bunch of random extra cards that I have, and to put them in groups of 10, and then do a practice draft or 2 with someone using those. Then let them keep their cards at the end.

Aye, I understand that decision - I assumed it would be a no, however, I figured there would be no harm in asking. I'm getting pretty excited for this tournament, even though it's still three weeks out. I don't know yet if Cara will be able to attend with me or not, or if she does, if she'll play in any categories (if not, I suppose I'll have to run speed ::)).
-
When's the tournament again? Nov 19? I will see if any of the other members of my player group would like to attend.

Now on the website!
Joppa, MD--November 19, 2011

At this point, mark me down as a definite, and Cara as a maybe (leaning towards probably not). I'll be playing in T12P, T1MP, and probably Booster. Brad, would it be possible for me to borrow cards for a deck again?
-
What about a 2.00 rental :P? 5.00 if you rip a plot again :P...sure that should be doable...
-
Hey, I offered you another Plot to make up for it and you wouldn't accept it. I should have just waited to see what my luck was in Booster...
-
Chris, change in plans, I'm actually going to be staying with Gretel that weekend, so I won't be coming from home, I'll be going from DC. I just wanted to give you a heads up.
-
Thanks for letting me know - I was going to ask you about that possibility. Have fun. =)
-
People coming to this tourney!!
... Does anyone have a Scribe that I can either trade for or buy?
:)
-
i know i have one you could BORROW if you just need it for this tourney but i'm not sure if i has an extra. i'll check for ya and get back to you ^_^
-
Alright, so, I might not be able to make it now. Some things have come up and I may not be able to swing it financially. Up in the air at this point, I'll keep you all posted. It's leaning towards a "no" though.

Awww, hopefully we will see you at the next one then.

Yeah, the problem is it ends up coming out to about $60 when you account for tournament fees, one meal on the road, and gas. Added to that, I have the option to work a three hour shift from midnight to 3am the night before, which is another $15 (adjusted for taxes) or so that I'd give up if I decided to go.
