I mentioned this to a couple people who went to Nats. I think that our next tournament should be a two day district, with a format similar to how we ran States. I enjoyed all the time spent with everyone, including non-Redemption time. With so many people coming from an hour or more away, the more time spent there, the better. I don't know how other people feel, but those are my thoughts.

I'd be up for something like what Chris is talking about.  I'm not sure if I'll be available in September, though - I know I'll be home for a four day weekend at the end of the month, but there's a bunch of other stuff I'll probably be doing closer to home.  My high school's annual benefit auction is that weekend, plus a good friend of mine from Ephrata will be leaving for South Africa soon after that weekend and I'd want to spend some time with her.  So I don't know what my schedule's gonna look like then, but I'd be around.

October, on the other hand... Except for the first two weekends, I should be able to come down.  Can't guarantee Friday night though, work's a little uptight about scheduling new PTO at the moment.  For a district, I'd try to bring a friend or two again, local would probably just be myself.

I'd love a two day thing. I really enjoy spending time with all of you, and the non-Redemption time was fun too. :) I'll have to keep you updated on when. :)

My thoughts were planning a small local first and then something bigger. Maybe this time I won't have to be in 5 different places this tourney.

We can do a small local anytime but with this much desire for a 2 day event I can help you plan and host if you'd like

I'm moving 4 hours away and will have no social life for the foreseeable future; but if I were to come to events, it would only be on Saturdays - unless Friday nights started at about 9pm.

(but as an aside - I'm hoping to start a playgroup in south central NY and may look to PA/MD to help get things moving once people become interested and stuff. but thats several months away.)

I work every other weekend so I would need to know ASAP.

Where are you are in South Central NY? My friend lives in Elmira and I'd love to come up and visit.

Back on topic it looks like October is the best time. And going off of everyone's input its a tie between a saturday event and a two day event. I would just like to have a small local event on Saturday, but later on this year of beginning of next year we can have a two day redemption-thon.

Based on this thread, I see no reason not to just start with a two day District. We'll just have the most popular categories Saturday, and anyone who can only attend that day can still play what they want to. For those who can make both, we can have less popular categories and other games on Friday and people can come when they can.

That could potentially work, I'll have to see when Gretel was planning her pie party with her fellow teachers though.

Obviously a pie party should wait until 3/14... ::)

P.S. I'm already starting to wish I could come to this if it happens... :P

It would be sweet if you guys were coming we would totally go for all the categories if you were coming.

Perhaps John and His crew and Roy and his crew would join us as well.

I would have to check with Bill, but I'm pretty sure we had some districts with 50+ people a couple years ago.  :o

There is a good chance that I will be in Lancaster for a teacher conference the 16th and 17th.... hmm... If that doesn't change, I might just be able to make a tournament that weekend.

Looks like the mob has spoken 10/17-10/18 it is barring any disagreement from Chad.  He and I can talk out a plan for that date but I'd assume it's safe to put it in the schedule with a pencil! :-)

Dates are unofficial until I get approval from Rob. Next topic......categories.

I mentioned to Josiah about an ultra booster (tins with Disciples, temp, and early church). Then we could run the t1 and t2 2P with or without multi. Maybe splash in teams?

I would do tins with TEC bc TEC has tin cards in it.    I say teams is a must at this point it has become one of my favorite categories.  Might as well do everything but sealed in a 2 day event.

I would love to be a part of this as well! Unfortunately, I would probably only be available for one day due to working LGH every other weekend and on-call for Philhaven some other weekends (not often though).  Let me know what month your planning on and I can let you know what weekends I would be free.  So excited!

Maybe this would be better for a local level just because it's a bit more of a departure from normal, but how about Kings, Priests, TexP, Di, TEC for booster?  Although Tins+TEC works for me, too.

17th and 18th work for me, though my attendance will probably be reliant on somebody (cough cough Marti) being able to give me a ride. I'm thinking T12P and T22P run against each other Saturday, followed by Teams. How does that sound?

Friday Night:

          T1/T2 Multi

          Booster (TEC)

Saturday:

          T1/T2 2P

     LUNCH

          Teams

I think that will work.

I think it could be a District. Pretty much a second state level event with all of those categories.

Sorry, wasn't talking about the actual level of this tourney, just throwing out an idea for experimenting with booster.  I was trying to say that, with the structure I'm thinking of, maybe it would be better to experiment with that during a local level tournament, which would mean not this one since we pretty much all agree it should be district.  Sometimes I can't English right when I'm thinking out loud ;)

Gretel and I are only going to be able to come up Saturday, can you guys do Teams on Friday instead and end with booster after lunch Saturday? Her pie party is October 11th.  We could do Booster first and then T1/T2 after so that people can get access to new stock for their decks (I have a whole opened box waiting :P).

dermo - he means that there is no food provided Friday night except that which attendees bring for themselves or to share. Saturday's meals will be covered with the registration fee. The $10 goes towards Saturday's meals and covers most events in the tourney - booster would be extra, cuz, well, booster. Though I think if you wanted to pay $40, they would accept the donation.

My attendance is a little up in the air right now, but I should know for sure shortly.

If I do come, I'm bringing the Game of Thrones board game, which we should play, because it's super fun. Anyone worried about the subject matter can rest assured that it doesn't have anything to do with the plot.

Teams results
1st Josiah and Blake
7 and 1/2 points 14 LS saved and 7 relinquished
2nd Jerome and Chris
7 and 1/2 points 14 LS saved and 8 relinquished
3rd Dayne and George
3 Points 12 LS saved and 10 relinquished

Josiah and Blake tied with Chris and Jerome 4-4 in a timeout where Jerome and Chris were poised to win if they could come up with one more block against Josiah.

Dayne and George were close in 2 losses they could have gone the other way with a couple cards different.

No one was particularly sharp after such a long break from competitive play.

We open with Booster tomorrow followed by 2player events and last and least multi categories to cap off this kick off district tournament.
