Is the "lodging" going to be at the church, like it was at the T2 tourney?

If so, I  might be interested in doing Sealed Deck. ...

In all likelihood yes. There should be plenty of floor space for sleeping bags, and that's what we've done in the past.

As the first person registered you win a free Haman's Plot. :o

Free lodging is at the church. We will have mattresses to sleep on like the T2 tourney. Hotel rooms will also be available(not free).

Sweet!  ;D

Let me guess, I only get it after you use it against me in a game and it gets torn in half, right?  :P

Not proxys. They are being air freighted from China. I think you will like them.

Well without using False Peace or Search in your T2 MP deck, clearly you wouldn't win anyway... ;)

Just giving ya a hard time... ::)

Oh, you tried to put strategy in your deck too? you can come sit with me at the losers table.... Pretty much how I felt after that game...

Its cool though, I've realized the error of my ways, and am playing a straight up gray, green deck now.....

Ha, there's strategy in my deck...after all, you have to find a way for people to let you play all those searching cards... :P

Matt Brinkman wins the Hopper for the 11th person to pre-register. (No it wasn't an inside job, now if Nathan wins the Book of the Covenant, for the 21st person to pre-register, then you can begin to wonder.)

Right now we are at 18.

31st person to pre-register wins a Michael.

For anyone attending the NC regional, the food situation will be similar to what we had for MN State.

There will be snacks and soda for sale throughout the tournament.

Friday evening will feature hot dogs for $1.

Lunch on Saturday will have pizza for $1.50 a slice with the hungry-man meal deal of three slices, soda, and chips available for $5.

I just thought I would let everyone know so you can plan ahead.

Wild Bill, I would like to add the Hopper to the prizes for Type-A.

Title: Re: Info & Pre registration for North Central Regionals
Post by: The Guardian on July 18, 2009, 01:51:04 AM
Well, it wasn't my night if that's what you mean...
First round, the guy who won had a great draw with his dominants (without searching or drawing extra no less) and I couldn't draw enough early Heroes.

Second round I won at a table of 3. Nearly lost after getting my SoG/NJ (in hand) shuffled by A New Beginning. The opponent started with a Hero, changed his mind and pulled it back, I looked down at my phone for a moment and next thing I know he activated Hidden Treasures and shoved a Prophet with ANB into battle...

Third round I could not draw SoG (only one guy at the table did, using it with NJ) and lost that round too. I would not say I played poorly, but you always need a little luck to win in MP and I didn't have any tonight.

1st: Matt Brinkman
2nd: Nathan Voigt
3rd: Andrew Wester and John Earley

Post by: The Guardian on July 19, 2009, 01:29:05 AM
Yep. Nathan and I both rescued 2 LS in the first round (we were at the same table, some RLK drew his SoG/NJ on turn 4 after getting 3 freebies with Lot). We then both went on to win our next two games. Scott won his first two rounds but then only managed 2 LS in round 3 giving us each 6 points and 12 LS.

no head to head at all? with only 16 players and 3 rounds? I find that hard to believe, wait you said that Nathan and you played, did either of you play Scott?
Title: Re: Info & Pre registration for North Central Regionals
Post by: The Guardian on July 19, 2009, 01:36:05 AM
Nathan and I played in the first round together and tied for 3rd in a 5-4-2-2 game.

I never played Scott, and I'm not sure if Scott and Nathan were at the same table in round or not.

Post by: Red Dragon Thorn on July 19, 2009, 01:38:10 AM
Ok, If you never played Scott then regardless if Nathan did you have the same deal with 3rd place in type 1 and you go to Differential, which is a tie, cool! great job all of you. Especially Scott! Over 40 club represent! (even though I'm only 18...)

Here is my awesome summary of the tournament. (Sorry for any spelling mistakes, especially names.)

Type 2 Multi Player
1.) ?
2.) ?
3.) Jon Early (I think.......)/Andrew Wester (BOO!)

Notes about my games
: Not much. My deck wasn't very good, I didn't have any searching cards so I really couldn't expect to play SOG every game/if at all. My second table was pretty sweet. I went last, and there was about a minute left. I quickly finished and ended my turn with seconds to spare, time just running out when Chris Bany draws.... that means we each get to go around for another turn! That normally wouldn't be "pretty sweet", but it is when someone plays A New Beginning in that scenario. My final table was against Andrew Wester, Jonathan Alstad, and Justin Alstad. That'd be a mouthful to say every time though, so we just called it "Austin vs. Alstad". It ended up being 7-6-5-4 (Andrew-Me-Jonathan-Justin)

Type 1 2-player

1.) Tim Maly
2.) Gabe Isbel
3.) Chris Bany

Notes about my games: Wow. Wow. Wow. I had a lot of close games, lets do them by the order I played them in!

Chris Bany: I don't really want to spoil his deck for anyone in the future to play it, but he made me say "bye-bye" to three of my dominants (No, they were not Glory of the Lord, Doubt, and Harvest Time.) within the first 3 turns or so. That pretty much changed the game, he won 5-4.

Tim Maly: I was really excited about this matchup. I was in 2nd, Tim was in first. I've had a lot of success/luck against Tim in the past, so I was fairly optimistic. I had a really cool opening draw, and he got a fairly weak hand. A little of this, a little of that, blah blah blah. Nearing the end I was up 4-1. I used SOG/NJ, he hasn't. I make a RA with a Captain band, and unfortunately he stopped me ;(. That left my deck with like 3 heroes left, and no usable enhancements for them! My speed defense couldn't hold out, this was another insane nail biter. Tim won 5-4.

Gabe Isbel: Ugh... best/worst game I played all tournament! I had a pretty sweet opening draw, but not the heroes I wanted. We both had to wait what seemed like a million turns before we could start on the offensive (him not drawing a hero, me not being able to get by the EC sitting in his territory because none of my enhancements matched my characters). I made two major mistakes, the first one being about half way into my game. I forgot to exchange for his doubler lost soul (I had Wanderer in my territory), so he gave me half and buried it; costing me 1 lost soul! Near the end of the game, I had just given him the shuffler. That put the score 4 (me, used SOG and NJ) to 2 (Him, still has SOG NJ). I play Harvest Time and grabbed the NT Only lost soul out of his deck (I thought that if he were to somehow draw cards and draw SOG, atleast he wouldn't be able to stop me with it). Instead of Claudia -> Simeon -> Jacob -> Captain, I attacked with Maharai -> Tribal Elder -> Jacob -> Captain. W00t, didn't have access. That ended up costing me the game (he still had one block, but I would have won next turn; before he drew SOG). Gabe won 5-4.

My other games were fairly simple, I had a better draw than my opponents.

Type 1 multiplayer
1.) 3 way tie between Scott Reuter, Nathan Voight, and Justin Alstad....

Notes about my games:
Round 1: Easy win. I had 2 "new" opponents.
Round 2: HOW DID SCOTT DO IT? Honestly, who uses a good sized defense in multiplayer (maybe 16 cards?)... and still wins? Oh well, he did it, props to him. Austin represents.
Round 3: My final game was probably my favorite. My goal was to make sure Matt Brinkman didn't win a game :). 2 revealers were drawn on your opening hand, which revealed my revealer, Unholy Writ, FA, and... CM (I think. It was another dominant). The bottom line is Matt soooo cheated. He only offered 12 minutes for me to play a dominant after someone defeated his evil character, and he wouldn't use his burial to stop someone from getting their first soul. I tried to call Bill over so he could be disqualified, but it didn't work. The ending was kinda neat. The score was 3 (Matt) - 2 (Me), others don't really matter. Neither of us had played our SoG or NJ, but I was almost decked out and he didn't even put a dent in his draw pile ;). It was my turn, and I made a RA with ET and drew like 6 cards,  leaving 4 in my draw pile. He blocked with Women as Snares and I threw down Authority of Christ. No one could help stop me, and everyone started to cry (maybe exaggerating... just a little!) as he handed my my 3rd lost soul. Too bad I hadn't drawn NJ. Matt DON'd my Gifts, flipped his up, and RA'd with Hur. I threw down my SOG to at least get 1 more point, and he drew NJ from the gifts and won. The last 4 cards in my deck were NJ, Lost Soul, TSA (I think), and something I don't remember.

Type A
1.) Isabel Reuter
2.) Zach Chandler
3.) ?

Post by: Red Dragon Thorn on July 19, 2009, 02:19:28 AM
I was the one who threw down the ANB, because Chris has said that there was only 10 sec left and your battle phase took longer than 10 sec, The game was over. so rather than sit around and let people do anything I drop an ANB and laugh...
Title: Re: Info & Pre registration for North Central Regionals
Post by: Rawrlolsauce! on July 19, 2009, 02:24:22 AM
Chris has said that there was only 10 sec left
and Bill said there was 30 seconds left. They should have solved their disagreements through the only reasonable method; cage fighting. Oh well.

Did Chuck go undefeated in T2 2p?

How many people attended?

Alright, there are still a few board-treading Minnesotans whom I do not know by face or name. Sauce, RDT, could you send me pics of yourself or something so I could recognize you at the next tournament? I can't seem to find the thread for member pics right now, but that would probably be the best place to put them.

Also of note, the official player count was 72 this year. However, Bill said that it's possible there were a few of the younger players who did not quite understand the whole registration process and might not have been counted.

Great tournament!

I suppose, but I could still possibly recognize them from memory. (By the way, in case I played any of these people at regionals, I was using a 70 card brown sitelock heroless deck, with which I did pretty poorly because I kept timing out. :P)

I had a great time at the tournament! Ironically, my favorite part was probably playing games of Dominion between rounds. :D I played Sealed for the first time ever on Friday, and although I lost like two of my six games I pulled some amazing stuff from booster packs (King Zimri, Leviathan, and Midianite Attack ftl :P).

I was

-The one that beat you 5-0 directly after you beat me 5-1 during the 4th round of state ;).
-Sitting to the right of you during Race for the Galaxy and Dominion
-The first one to go grab pizza when playing Dominion.... ;D

Title: Re: Info & Pre registration for North Central Regionals
Post by: BubbleBoy on July 19, 2009, 10:02:34 PM
I thought so! Everyone made me think you had a heroless so I threw away all my evil enhancements; I might have been able to beat you if I had taken King Zedekiah out and kept Dungeon of Malchiah. Oh well, I already knew that deck was a failure; the biggest problem was not myself taking too long, but my opponents taking too long - I kept timing out in games that I would have been able to win easily! Ugh...

Right, because Burial stops a zebby deck, Christian Martyr on the other hand would have been a card to keep.

Round 3: My final game was probably my favorite. My goal was to make sure Matt Brinkman didn't win a game :).

It was fun. You also had a secondary goal of helping me mock the only player at the table with a real defense. Although you failed in your primary mission, the backup mission was pure wyn..

Quote
The bottom line is Matt soooo cheated.

I call it creative rule interpretation.  :P

Quote
He only offered 12 minutes for me to play a dominant after someone defeated his evil character,

And yet when you made a successful against me, you saw fit to whine like a stomped grape about the sloooooooow walk the LS took across the River Jordan. I did enjoy your dance of indecision over whether or not to play your Burial on my third Lost Soul. I'm sorry I had to interrupt the fun by knocking the guy holding the LS to the floor and wrestling the card from him.

At the end of a long tournament day, sometimes it is nice to be able to play without having to care at all about winning or losing.

Rawrlolsauce!, it was a pleasure playing against you, sir. You and I have to figure out a way to share a multi-player table with Andrew, so we have a common enemy to team up against. I also need to make sure you get included in a T2-MP game with Count Fount and myself sometime, and we old guys can teach you a thing or two about how guile and treachery can lead to fun.
