Title: District Tournament Texas Style
Post by: Terry Markoff on August 25, 2009, 02:55:07 PM
Deep In The Heart Of Texas

We're back.  After being unable to participate in hosting or playing tournaments with you all last year, I am excited to announce that tournaments will once again be hosted at The Life Church this year.  The first will be a District Tournament on October 17th at 9:00 am.  Only four categories will be offered this time.  Two will be simultaneously scheduled in the morning, while multi-player events will be offered in the afternoon after a lunch break.  Please try to arrive at least 15 minutes before game time so decks can be checked.

If anyone out there is able to help out a brother by offering a discount on either of the tins, let me know.

Thanks,
Terry

Also, if Terry approves and the church is alright with it, I have applications filled out for two Local tournaments.

September 26th
and
October 10th

Type-1 2 player, Type-2 2 player, and Type-1 Teams will be offered. Because it is a local, we're not going to play any simultaneously. T1-2P will be first, then T1-Teams, then T2-2P last so those who do not play Type-2 can leave early or just hangout and play with people who aren't playing Type-2.

Promos are Spirit of a Dove (or whatever it's called) and Goshen. Tournament winners will receive a random TexP card. Those who place will receive Redemption Cash as prizes.

Hopefully Cactus will get their shipment of TexP in soon, and I can spend the couple hundred Redemption Cash I have on the new set to sell at the tournaments.

Sorry, Marcus.  I guess I forgot to mention that.  Type1 and Type 2-2 Player in the Morning.  Type Type1-Multi Player and Type 2-Multi-
Player in the afternoon.

Redemption Cash or packs maybe selected by the winners and the new card randomly issued to me will be the prize for the winners of each type.

I think I pickede the District newest promo guy.  Sorry but I do not remember his name for the promo for signing up.

Ben, those dates are OK, but the 10/10 tournament falls on a Men's Breakfast day so it would have to start closer to 10:30 am.  Anyone arriving early though is invited to attend the breakfast which begins at about 8:30 am.

Would it be better if I just changed the date to the saturday before?

It has been offiacially posted.  October 17th.  Please let me know if you plan to attend.  Ben,  I do not see a posting for the 2 locals you indicated you would be hosting.  Do I need to hold those dates in my calendar or are you pushing them further back.

I talked to Rob about it since they weren't 6 weeks in advance. I'm faxing them to him tomorrow, so they should be officially posted once he receives them.

Also tomorrow I'm mailing in my Redemption Cash, getting 40 packs of TexP for anyone who wants to buy some at the tournament.

As far as I know, Marcus Rutledge's playgroup (6) will be attending the district tournament in October.  I will be there of course as will Ben S. and Buddy (I am pretty sure).

Please let me know if you and/or your playgroup plans to join us.
Thanks.

Chad and Aaron should be able to come as well. There is a small possibility that two other kids will come.

Thanks,

Marcus responded.  His 7 player group will be there.

Please join us for this local.  We will also be hosting at the Life Church, a local on October 10th and a district on the 17th.

I plan on submitting an application for the second saturday in November for another district tournament.

It's good to be back.

Looks like I'll be by myself this weekend - Neeka has 3 tests next week and isn't coming home.

Since I don't see the tournament listed on the Cactus website, what time does it start on Saturday?

It's actually Type-1 Multi-Player, I heard negative results about teams so I changed it.

Negative results?  Teams in my experience at Nats anyway is one of the most popular events right now...

A big thanks to the 12 players who made it out to our local tournament.  This was the first tournament for 6 of the players.  About a half a dozen regulars were not in attendance so we are looking for a highly enjoyable, competitive and successful year.

Among our winners were Ben Sha,.^$%#*dri..(only kidding Ben) who somehow managed to win Type 1 and Type 2 2-Player events and Luz Mora in Type 1-Multi (her first win).  CJ 'Cornelius Jackson', Marcus Parker and Tavion James all placed 2nd in an event).

I just mailed off an application to hold a District Tournament on Saturday, November 7th starting at 9:00 am.  Please try to be there around 8:30 for deck check.

The fee will be $2.50 per event entered.  You may bring lunch or chip in $2 for all the pizza you can eat.

The morning session offers Type 1 and Type 2 2 Player matches while the afternoon session will offer the multi-player events for each type.  There is a possibility that either team play or Booster Draft could suplant of of the afternoon matches.

I hope to see about 20-25 players join us.  If you are one of them, please let me know you will be attending.  First time tournament players in this district will receive a free pack of cards with their paid admission.

The events will take place at The Life Church in North Dallas.  The church sits on the NW corner of Hillcrest and Alfa Rds.
