Title: Best come-backs in a tournament ever!!!
Post by: cookie monster on October 11, 2011, 05:41:27 PM
Post your best come-backs in tournaments you have ever witnessed here.

My Best come-back in a tournament is losing 4-0 and winning in the last three turns of the game, on the last turn of after time ran out I rescued my 5Th lost soul. We were both stunned.

What is your best come-back in a tournament ever?

Nats 07 T1-2P, I won my first game but lost the next two rounds. Thinking that I was out of the running I switched to my "multi-player deck".

I proceeded to win the next 7 games, most of them by a fairly large margin. One game I even rescued 7 Lost Souls to pad my differential (this was back in the day before the 5 LS limit). At the end of the 10th round I was tied for 1st place with 5 other players, but I had the best LS differential which was the first tie breaker in those days.

Chatty RLK: "If I have to play you next round, I might have to put a sleeping pill in your Dr. Pepper."
Me: "If we do play, I might have to drink it."

At last years Nats. I was up against Gabe and he was up 4-0. I ended up making a comeback to win after surviving an AOCP thanks to Gates of Hell and Strong Demon. That was so far my favorite game and was one of the closest games I ever had.

Keke. I get to post this because the +1 it'll get will help against the disappointment in the comeback.

I was playing vs John Earley at NC Regionals (biggest tournament outside of nats ;.;) a couple years ago, 2nd to last round. We were the last two that were undefeated. I was playing TGT + Teal (less teal than Gabe's Teal Tomb. More like a splash) with a Philly+Splash defense. RDT was playing his Water Tomb deck.

First turn RDT gets SWJ and a Samaritan and sets aside my SOG, NJ, AotL, and 95% of my defense. Despite this, I go up 4-0 because I'm just that good. I have 2 2-liners in my LOB, RDT has a tap on each. He hasn't drawn his SOG yet, and has 2 LSs in his LOB. So, I flip down my Lampstand so I can bury one of them. Except I didn't realize I rescued the anti burial soul earlier (WHO USES THAT!@?#!?#), so I have to bury one of RDT's souls. I attack, and he buries the other for the block.

Next turn he attacks, plays Words or something, rescues a soul then plays SOG + NJ to go from 0 souls to 5 in one turn.

I got second place that tournament. RDT was my only loss......

Boston Nats I played in Sealed Deck and being the cool guy I am I opened 3 Prophets packs. Inside my packs were low and behold was nothing! they were ditto packs! Yes I got ditto packs and the only card in the packs that was even my brigade was Hudlah x2.... What I did get was Cup of Wrath x2 and with my luck my opponent foolishly traded away his blue heroes he couldnt use! With Cup of Wrath x2 I went on to win Boston Nats due to a super tie breaker of doom and trolling my opponents the whole way by playing Cup of wrath and then Deceit of Sapharia on their EC's. Not too much of a come back story considering the comeback was from me picking Prophets packs ::)

At MO states this year I went up like 4-1 over my opponent's (cant remember his name) Philly defense with my TGT offense, but then he cant draw any Lost Souls for a LONG time. He was using prophets and got Hidden treasures up and running to discard a ton of my EEs. Then he gets Simeon+Anna band so I cant Writ of CM them. He then plays Spiritual Warfare off Hidden Treasures to ignore all my ECs. Soggy+NJ and he wins. This is why I dont like prophets!

I was down 4-0 at a local about 3 years ago (when I was extremely nubbish and played a turtle deck) and there were 5 minutes left in the game. My opponent Holy Grailed my Rabsaris and tried to go in for the win but I discarded his last hero with CM. He had no recursion so I fought for 2 souls, SoG+NJed the third and fourth, and played Spiritual Warfare on my green Rabsaris (who was the only Silver or Green character I had left) for the final rescue.

Teams against Kirk and Ben at Nats 2009, the year before it was an official event. We were down 0-4, but we had made both of our decks be tgt/anb, so we used both anbs, reset the game and came back to win 5-4. Such a fun game.
