Post by: Alpho on January 07, 2010, 12:16:45 PM
I am having a hard time finding tournaments to go to. I live in Indio, Ca. Can any one tell me where to look?

Thanks! Are these all there are or is the big open space saying "More to come!"

Bryon Hake hosts tournaments in Arcadia (near Pasadena).  He has two scheduled:
January 30, 2010  9am  (local)
February 27, 2010  9am  (local)

He generally hosts a tournament there once a month, so expect more to be posted in a few weeks.

Brandon West (lightningninja) has hosted or wants to host some tournaments in the Oceanside area... any planned, Brandon?

There also are tournaments in Newbury Park (near Thousand Oaks/Oxnard), hosted by Mike Wolfe (he and Bryon co-hosted Nats there last year).  Haven't seen dates for this year.

The "more to come" on the tournaments is basically saying that there will be future tournaments, but the hosts have not paid for them yet, so they are not official.

There is another church in the Chino/Corona vicinity that might start having tournaments soon.  If you come to one of the Arcadia tournaments, I can introduce you to a couple players from that area.

I'll also start hosting in Fresno again soon (looking at March right now).

Looking at where Indio is, Bryon's tournament would be the best bet for ya (hopefully my group will be joining them for the February tournament  :prayer:)

Unfortunately, I am at Lake Arrowhead on January 30th and in the High Sierras on February 27th. :'( Maybe I can go to the Fresno one or the chino/corona ones when those come up.  :) Thanks for your help everyone!

I'll be having one every month except August.  That has been the general rule for the last 10 years or so.  :)

It is still on March 27th.  It has just been delayed to a 1 pm start.

The April 24th tournament has been moved up to April 17, with a 10:30 start.

There is a May Local and a June State both listed on my website, too:  www.redemptionca.com (http://www.redemptionca.com)

@Alpho, there is actually a playgroup up the hill in Yucca Valley.  We are going to begin meeting more now because we are getting ready for State and regionals.  If you are interested in trying to come to these preparation meetings, you can ask me through PM, and I will see what I can do.

Yeah, we welcome anyone to attend, although that means less chance for me to win, but still have fun. LOL Thank you.

Darn! Looks like I won't be able to make it to one until August. There is one in August right?

The only tournament in August is Nats in Boston, MA.  Bryon may have a release event in the late summer (he did when the tins were released), but we'll see.

Hey I heard from Michael that Regionals will not be held over two days like it normally is with sealed and Type 2 multi on one day and everything else on Saturday but instead it will be like State where everything was crammed into one day... can anyone confirm this?

Yah, I heard that from Bryon at state. too bad.

Yeah, that's what he did for Regionals last year, too.

Also, Michael dumped me as his Teams partner (crying), so if somebody wants a partner, I'm free.  If not, I'll find someone there or take another crack at Type 2.

Oh yeah sorry about that Scott ):

So is Regionals going to go Uber late this year? cause if we are doing teams too the tourney wont end till like 8pm or later with Teams added to the list of categories we have to play this year.

Sorry again Scott,

Not that I want to dumped you, but you are not going to Nats, and I need someone to be trusted in National, or someone I know well. Thanks.

I know.  It's just good material for fake indignation.  If Brandon West can make it, I'll probably play with him.

Another Challenge for me. Let's go. Allow the best four teams play in the final.

At least you are able to do teams! I wish I had a partner but the only one out here that could do it does not want to!

I promise you, once you come to our tournament, you'll find a partner to play Teams.

So how did boosters/teams go? I had to leave with my family before than so I could play.

Also, thanks to the kreamers(sp?) For some of the best T2 games I've played (especially the two hour one :) )

My brother and I won Teams, we were Tim and Andy Hesse, and Booster Draft Mike Wolfe won (I think that is how you spell it ???).  There were only six teams, and booster didn't have as much either.

We had 6 teams (12 players) in Teams, and Booster draft had 11 players.
