I'm from Greenville, SC and I don't really see any players in the area. D:
-
Not that I know of. I haven't found any players in northern Georgia other than the people in my neighborhood that I taught. Seems like most players are up north. By the way, welcome to the boards don't hesitate to ask questions. :)
-
I'm in Toccoa, GA. (Somewhere in northeast GA). I a college student and I have yet to meet another active Redemption player on campus.
-
Haha, I made a comment about being the only player in Georgia that I know of and now like three people are telling me they are in or near Georgia.
-
Its okay. I'm only in GA for part of the year and I don't get to tourneys when I'm down here. Nor do I interact on the boards much because I don't have time to play and become any form of an experienced player.
-
I live in Cleveland, GA. That's (at most) 2 hours away from where I live. :)
-
Hey guys, since it looks like most of you are new and not real familiar with some people on the boards, I'm Chris. I live in Knoxville TN, which I know is too far to play with on a regular basis, but I have several tournaments every year including TN States and SC Regional's this year. I don't know of any players around the SC area, but there are a few top players in GA, but they don't play a whole lot until the top tournaments start happening. The only reason I bring this up for you guys is because driving 3 hours is actually not too bad for a State or Regional tournament, I do it quite often. I'm less than 3 hours from Greenville, I'm a little over 3 hours from Toccoa & Cleveland!
-
Thanks! I have been on the boards for a while, but I still don't know that many people. I frequently check the tournament listings and have wanted to go to one of your tournaments before, but 2 hours is still too far for me. I'd like to host my own tournament but I'm pretty sure the rules say that tournament hosts must have attended a tournament in the past.

I'm going to sound very harsh here but if two hours is too much for your parents they need to care about their child's hobbies more. Most parents would drive two hours for a flipping sports game where the kid's liables to get his brain knocked out but not two hours for a card tournament where said kid's brain is likely going to improve.

Although I see your point I think that family situations vary greatly and it is nearly impossible for you to correctly interpret the things that I may or may not be able to do from me and my family's perspective. It is much easier for some families to accommodate the extracurricular travels of their children than others. It just happens that in my particular case, it is not impossible for me to travel to a Redemption event, just unlikely with our busy schedule and many things going on in our lives right now. College, injuries, and overall stress are a few things that my family has had going on so I just ask that you consider the unknown to you before making comments about the amount of dedication that my parents put into my activities and interests. No hard feelings, just make sure you're taking on the issue from my perspective.

Great answer Scoobug. I was also thinking along these lines when reading red's admittedly harsh response. I think there are a too many variables to immediately jump to the conclusion that parents who don't drive their kids 2 hours for hobbies are displaying poor priorities. I also really like how you handled the comment with grace, but pointing out that you understood his point, and that you have no hard feelings.
Keep up the good work :)

I, too, really liked how your reply, Scoobug!
I have been around Redemption/the boards for 2 years now. I would love to go to tournaments while I'm in GA but I have no car, no money, and no time. I mostly go to tournaments when I'm at home. I'm mostly familiar with the central PA/ MD crowd as I go to Creation, and have been to 2 MD States, 1 PA states, and a local in PA. I have the RTS thing, but dont have much time to play (6 classes this semester) and I am still learning rules, terminology, erratas, and how cards interact. When my brother ( _JM_ on here) and I have played RTS we have had to skype because I have tons of questions so playing with random people can result in frustration for one or both players.

I'm by nature a blunt person with strong opinions. So I come out as harsh. However I don't have hard feelings just hard opinions, Just don't take my words personally and life be fine. I wasn't trying to attack your parents just how people are in general bugs me and it comes out at times.

As of June I will be stationed in Warner Robins Georgia coming home, (Woodstock GA) every other weekends or for top tournaments. My good friend rtsmaniac is in Dalton Georgia.

By the way, this is one of the GA players I was talking about! :)

Also in SC we have slugfencer i think as well as the creator of the game Rob Anderson in NC who hosts NC State. I live in Dalton GA and anyone interested in going to Crash's State or Regional can drive up to Dalton and catch a ride to save on gas.

Clift I got a new phone send me your number and when is the tournament I should be going to both with you.
