Considering the new cards aren't out yet, I feel like this tournament season would be a repeat of last year's (which wouldn't be all bad ;)). In that regard, the only tourneys I'd probably attend would be state or higher, so as long as you let me know when state would be for sure, I would be able to go, provided I have enough time to get off work.

Cheers,
Mr. (Now-Married) Kirk Dennison.

You know, it seems like just yesterday that I heard you were engaged, but that was quite a few months ago already! :o Time sure flies! (Pardon the cliché)
Congrats again on your success! ;D

Congratz on getting hitched!

I would love to attend tournaments, however I am unable at this time to determine which weekends I will be available as I'm still in training for my new job and my actual work schedule has yet to be made (so I don't know if I'm working any weekends, or none, or all, lol). I will update as I get more information.

I would love to be apart of any new tournaments! I'll check my schedule and get back to you on that. But I'll try to keep ya posted. I'm currently not playing that much since nothing new has really happened with the game either...

I may also hold another tournament or two sometime as well...

If WI State is 6/22, there's a good chance I could come. I would definitely hope for T2 MP to be available.  8)

Unfortunately I will not be available that weekend; either of the two previous weekends would be great, since my wife will be in Ecuador, but since she is coming back on the 22nd, I should probably pick her up at the airport rather than road trip to Madison...unless I can convince her to fly back to Madison and hang out with the lovely Mrs. Dennison (who we greatly enjoyed hosting over the weekend btw).

Thanks for weighing in MN crew. At this point I will plan to keep state on 6/22 as that worked best for the game shop.

Justin, I would be glad to include T2 multi provided we have another player or two express interest.

Jordan, you could pitch that to your wife, but I would understand if that doesn't work out.

David, maybe you could catch a ride with Justin?

If you guys are going to end up going would it be possible to arrange carpool?

EDIT: Just remembered you don't really have room in your car anymore.

Yeah, sorry about that.  :P We're not really conveniently located for getting you to Madison, either. Maybe James could give you a ride since he's in the Milwaukee area...

Well, as a part of Boy Scouts I'm actually going to SeaBase which is more of camping than a vacation so sadly I won't be available there either.

I have updated my initial post to reflect tentative schedules. The main catch is that the game store's hours are 9 am to 7 pm - hence the later start time and the earlier ends times.

I am awaiting final confirmation that I can host there otherwise I will be able to start sooner at Union South (and it will be a little cheaper) but parking is harder.

Thoughts?

I am not sure yet. The store owner asked about the tournament application costs (which I disclosed) and mentioned that she would expect to make a little bit for their while. Hopefully I will find out early this next week.

You should play teams at some point.

Justin, do you have any room in your car(if you go) that I could tentatively reserve?

Fri - June 21
6:00 pm - 6:50 pm - Deck Check
7:00 pm - ?? pm - T1 Multi (three)
7:00 pm - ?? pm - T2 Multi (two)

Sat - June 22 (will change based on Fri events)
9:00 am - 9:20 am - Deck Check
9:30 am - 2:30? pm - T1 2p (5 rounds)        1:00 pm - 1:45 pm - Lunch break
9:30 am - 2:30? pm - T2 2p (3 rounds)
2:30 pm - 3:00 pm - Deck Check
3:00 pm - 5:45 pm -  Booster  ????
3:00 pm - 5:45 pm - Teams    ????
3:00 pm - 5:00 pm - Sealed (3 rounds)

Would this be a good schedule?

Yeah, I think so. Family has first dibs but since Jordan probably can't go, I would probably have 2 extra spots after Jayden and I. I will probably check with Tim as well. If we end up having too many, I can ask my parents about borrowing their van for the weekend.

I think that schedule looks pretty good. I don't know if we will have enough people to do 2 multiplayer categories at the same time as Sealed. Also I am not sure how many people will come on Fri night so we could just do T2 multi by itself that night. I am also mulling over putting T2 2p and T1 multi that evening and then pairing T2 multi with T1 2p on Saturday.

Would any Wisconsin players come on Friday night?

I put up the tentative schedule for State.

Thanks for weighing in. I toyed with 2 schedules (one with T2 2p on Fri night) and accidentally left that one posted that you would have seen. The schedule now posted simply moved around the T2 categories and left everything else intact.

It might just be me but I feel like sealed won't get too many players as it's paired with the two most played categories. I'd suggest moving sealed to Friday night but some other input would be good.

FYI, I'll be at the tournament this weekend, so if anyone would like to make a purchase from Three Lions Gaming, include a note, and I can bring the cards with. I will refund the shipping charge as long as your order is over $5 and you get it in by Thursday.

Thanks!

Valid points. There are a few WI players that would pick sealed over the two main categories. I knew I didn't want to put sealed at the same time as booster and I don't expect some of the people who might play sealed to come on Fri night. But I am open to changing it - especially if there is interest from people coming on Fri to play.

Thanks for letting everyone know Ken. :)

If I am able to make it for the WI State tournament, I would choose Sealed and Booster with the current schedule. No matter what the schedule is, I would only be able to come for Saturday, so if Sealed was moved to Friday night I would play T1 2P instead.

Just giving my input. :)

If we're using the new starter decks then I'd definitely prefer it to be on Friday night but I might play it on Saturday anyways. It's totally up to you Kirk, I just wasn't sure if there would be many people but I suppose if we can use the starter decks then there might be more players.

I have moved Booster and T2 2p to the first category of the day and moved T1 2p to after lunch. We will probably need to play 3 rounds of T2 so i will need to restrict rounds to 1 hr to fit into the schedule.

The new schedule is as follows:

9:00 am - 9:20 am - Deck Check for T2 2p
9:30 am - 12:00 pm - Booster Draft (2 rounds)
9:30 am - 12:30 pm - T2 2p (3 rounds)
12:00 pm - 1:00 pm - Lunch break
1:00 pm - 1:15 pm - Deck Check for T1 2p
1:15 pm - 4:15 pm - T1 2p (4 rounds)
4:15 pm - 4:30 pm - Deck Check for T1 Multi
4:30 pm - 6:30 pm - T1 Multi (2 rounds)

Looking forward to Saturday!

Hey Josh,

That would be great if you could make it. I would definitely be willing to poll the group tomorrow and see if people would rather play Teams. However I don't think I would want to run both at the same time as there will probably be 10 people left by the time we play that category. The number of players would heavily influence my decision. I could see adding the category if we had 12 (8 for teams and 4 for multi) as there would not be a bye for a team. Otherwise it would be one round for two teams.

Kirk, congratulations on being the host of the first official tournament that will include the new starter decks for sealed deck!

For anyone planning to come, I will be there with a bunch of the new decks and tins available. Your best bet is to order them at least 3 days before then for me to bring them, but I will have more available there, as well. It will just be first come, first served. :)

Oh, and I'm looking forward to being part of the first group of people to officially play sealed deck with these decks!

Kirk, will you have the new cards Friday night?

That would be up to Ken if he decides to ship me some or all of the new cards.

Noah, if you are the only person who wants them Friday night and won't be there Saturday, I may as well just mail them straight to you instead. If others are in your situation, I would be willing to work something out for sending them to Kirk to have Friday night.

Since this is coming up this next weekend and the Starters won't be available until just before will the Starters still be able to be used for sealed with the late release and Ken/Kirk will you be able to have them available for purchase?

Ken's order for starters is shipping Monday.  I don't yet know when tin #26 will ship because we don't have those cards yet.

So yes, they will still be used for Sealed Deck - thanks, Rob! And I will have starters for sale even if I don't have tins.

I will also bring sleeves for sale in light of the new rule, but I think the store has a lot more options than me. :)

Thanks Ken and Rob for weighing in. Should be a lot of fun with new Starters for sealed! Since the game store has requested we not sell product they carry in store I would prefer we defer sleeve sales to them on Sat while we are playing in the store.

I would like a head count of those who need space to sleep. Based on my estimations we have room for about 12 at the church office on the floor. Bring your own pillows and sleeping bags.

Would there be any room in a Minnesota caravan for me?
The new cards have spurred an interest.
I would be at VBS with Jayden on Friday.

As far as I know, Tim is the only other Minnesotan who is going for sure and Justin was thinking about it. If Tim is welcoming teenagers in his car I'd get first dibs because I'm his girlfriend's brother. :P Tim will also be at VBS on Friday I assume as well as David who has also shown interest in going. So, if Justin sees this, then know that if we're going I assume we'll be leaving from North Heights around 12:30 because that's when we get off but Tim feel free to weigh in.

Also, would anyone else want to switch Sealed and something so that I can play T2-2P and Sealed or is that just me? :P

Hey,

Unless other carpool plans develop, I'm planning to drive to WI State leaving from North Heights when VBS ends on Friday.  My car has 6 seatbelts but reasonably only seats five.

Krik can you post or PM me the address for the Friday night events?

Kirk, I will definitely defer the sleeves to the store - after I originally posted I realized they probably have them, so I won't even bring mine. :)

Jayden,

We could potentially move T2 2p to the afternoon block with Booster and Teams. That would probably ensure Teams doesn't happen.  :) I don't want to pair both closed deck categories together and I didn't want to put either on Fri night based on newer players probably not coming that night.

Tim,
Address is 1605 Monroe St. Suite 103 - sorry I left off that detail! My phone number is also (904) 263-0972. If you are leaving after VBS - what time do you anticipate arriving?

Ken, thanks!

Depending on traffic, I would guess that they would arrive between 530-600.

Thanks Jordan.

Regarding T2-2p
After thinking on T2-2p some more, there may be no one besides myself playing T2 2p as it sits on Sat currently. Therefore it probably makes the most sense to move it somewhere else. The three options I am entertaining are as follows:

A. Really long Friday night for T2 players - T2 2p first and then T2 multi. Estimated # of players for T2 2p: 8-10.
B. T2 2p paired with Booster & Teams. I don't know if we would have much interest for Teams if I moved T2 2p into this slot. Estimated # for T2 2p: 4-6.
C. Leave it where it is. Estimated # for T2 2p: 2-3.

I should add that putting T2 2p on Fri night probably means a very small T1 multi game if anyone plays it at all. So if everyone plays T2 2p that means I won't be able to play the only category I really hoping to play (T2 2p) unless everyone is kosher with judging by committee, which is something we have been fine with at some tournaments. Picking 3 players to judge who are playing at the one(s) not playing in the game at hand make the verdict.

Yeah, it'd probably be best just to figure it out when we get there. I'm fine with where it's at but I'd prefer to be able to play Sealed.

I'm planning to try and attend Friday night and was hoping to play T1 MP, but if it ends up just being T2 events I can help judge if that would be helpful.

It looks like there will be 4 of us coming from the cities.  Jayden, David, Mike and I.  Jordan's estimate sounds about right that we'll get there about 5:30 on Friday.

I will provide food for breakfast to those sleeping at the church office. No extra cost. Although if you do not like tofu and liver there are other easy options such as McDonald's close by. :)

There are many fast food restaurants within walking distance of the tournament for lunch/dinner. Make sure to either bring some food along or money to cover those meals.

For Booster Draft, the results were:
1st = Justin Alstad
2nd = Cheryl Locklin
3rd = Ken Locklin

For Sealed Deck, the results were:
1st = Jayden Alstad
2nd = Justin Alstad
3rd = Ken Locklin, Scott Bowman (tie)

Those were the categories I played in, so I don't know the other results. I'm guessing that Josh Knitt got 1st in Type 1 2-player. ;)

You're welcome. In my and Jayden's game, I made one mistake that cost me a successful rescue and I also did not draw Son of God (he did even though I was able to underdeck it early in the game), so the game was probably closer than the 5-2 score would make it seem.
