Very excited for this, you know I will be there. Can't wait!
-
I'm excited that you can make it. People that travel from out of state really make this tournament special. Craig I'm sure will be coming from KC. Probably 1 or 2 from Canada. Sounds like Gabe is going to bring a bunch. I sent Ron Sias the dates. Hope Cliff can make it too.
I just booked the band for lunch. "The Alstad 6". Jayden on lead guitar, Justin on bass guitar, Britta lead singer, Brianna back up singer, Jordan on drums (that will be worth the price of admission alone)and Jonathan on cow bell. If Jonathan can't make it Tim said he will fill in.
-
i would really like to make this! trying to find the funds!

My place in Iowa is about a 10 hour drive from Nashville. You're welcome to crash here and join my crew for the remainder of the trip.
-
There is a slim chance I could come. I would need to get picked from the airport after I fly in from California( and I ride back!)
-
If anybody needs some of the harder to get cards for the tournament let me know so I can try to have them on hand.

Those won't make it past the Iowa border.
-
I'm super excited- coming from SD
-
I don't suppose you have any extra Leprosy's, do you? I'm looking for a few to finish the second copy of my deck.

I did get one in Booster Draft. I get a Leprosy, Jordan gets a Shipwreck and he didn't pass it to me.
-
So I booked my tickets! It's official now, I get to come join the tournament!
-
So far looks like:
Wisconsin
Iowa
South Dakota
Georgia
Tennessee
California
Canada?
Count Fount??
It won't be as much fun to pick on the Count if he is not here.
-
Anybody hear if the Tripleplay bros might come from WI?
-
So far, we intend to attend. 8)
I'm a bit rusty though. ::)

Oh, and by we I meant my dad and I. Brothers are real involved with robotics and can't afford to miss a week. :'(
But based on how busy we've been I'll be lucky if I could put together 2 competitive decks let alone 4. :P

CountFount always has plenty of decks to loan out. ;)
We hope to see you 2 there! 8)

Hey guys I might be there as well haha 60-70% sure hahaha
-
So, I'm pretty new to the T2 scene and the deck I'm bringing is the first and only T2 deck I've ever built. Should I build a second one just in case? Any other consideration before I come to the tournament?
-
I would stick with one deck and get as familiar with it as possible. Try to get a few games in on Lackey and ask for suggestions after the game is over. If you're not worried about people knowing what you're going to use, you can also make a deck list and post it in the T2 deck section and ask for suggestions on how to improve it.
-
So, some good and bad news. Good news is that'll still be coming to the tournament. Bad news my time got cut short. I'll be in Minneapolis by 2 pm on the third, have the whole day of the fourth, but I have to fly out on the fifth early in the morning.
-
Fun Starts in 4 days.
-
so excited for this!!!
-
It's my first time too, I only have one deck
-
Ill be there!
-
Quick questions.
First, is there an iron man event? If so what is that?
Second what's the entry fee for getting into a tournament?
Third, what level of tournament is this?

Iron Man is an unofficial event where players can play T1 2P games if they are not quite ready for the competition of T2 2P.
Tournament is free.
Officially it's "just" a local...but no one really sees it as that. It's the T2 ONLY!!! :o
-
Well the first person has landed. Xonathan is here from California. He is staying overnight at a hotel in Arden Hills. If anybody wants to get a pick up game in tonight I'm sure he would appreciate it. Just get ahold of me and I'll put you in touch.

I had not noticed this before--thanks Travis!

Great tournament! So thankful for all who were able to make it, and hope that everyone who could not make it will be able to attend next year! 8)
-
That sealed team booster draft was a little rigged, but other than that it was great!
-
What were the results?
-
Hey All,
As the largest (non-Nationals) gathering of Type-2 players, one of the questions that always comes up following Wild Bill's Type 2 Only is, "What decks were played/what is the current state of the meta?" As part of deck check in this year, I asked the players to give a brief description of what they were playing. Here is what they told me...
Angels+Judges/Demons+Magicians
Armor of God/?
Armor of God/Crimson
Armor of God/Magicians
Armor of God/Pharisees
Black/Gold
Clay/Demons
Clay/Pharisees
Disciples/Assyrians
Gabriel-Luke recursion+TGT NT Ladies/Demons +Magicians with underdeck control
Genesis/Egyptians
Genesis/Egyptians
Judges/Assyrians
Judges/Babylonians
Judges/Crimson
Judges/Panic Demon
Judges+Elijah/Philistines
OT Angels/Magicians+NT Crimson
Purple+Teal (Ram's Horn Offense)/Kings of Judah (In the Clouds Combo)
Silver+Purple/Assyrians
Cheers all.
-
What were the results?
United States + Canada VS Alstad's and the Alstad's won
T2-M Justin 1 Jordan 2
T2-2P Jordan 1 Justin 2
Very competitive. After the first two rounds only 2 of the 18 players had 6 points. A number of timed out games. Jordan went 5-1 Some great pairings in the later rounds.
Best Moment: Interrupting tournament play and seeing everybody rush out of the room looking for a temporarily misplaced baby.
Lowest score: Martin and Noah almost broke Pat and Craig's lowest score record with a 2-0 game. Pat and Craig still hold the record of a 1-0 game.
-
It was also fun creating a side battle where my opponent couldn't hurt his character having my angel under the oak fight my gideon. I was in control of my angel under the oak so gideon was protected from himself, but he can't really be protected from himself so...
P.s. i think looking for the baby beats this
-
Where was the baby?
-
I think it was the Justins dad i believe that took him. (of course we did not figure that out right away, it was after everyone was out of the room :) )
-
Out of curiosity, did the "missing baby" happen during the game with Jordan's only loss? :o
-
Hehe.
No I don't think so
-
It was Tim's baby, and Mr. Alstad was probably given her by a absent minded Tim.
-
Just to clarify for everyone...Tim was walking around judging while holding he and Britta's daughter Lillian. At some point, my dad walked in having come from his Bible study. He took Lillian from Tim (probably while Tim was answering a ruling question) and was walking around the church with her. Suddenly Tim realized Lillian was no longer in the room...now Lillian is just getting to the crawling stage but its more like the "army crawl" style so not very fast, but it was quite obvious she was not in the room. Everyone started spreading out down the hallways to make sure she hadn't reached any stairs. Suddenly I remembered my dad walking into the room and it dawned on me that he probably had her. A quick call confirmed this and everyone went back to playing. :)

I assume it was my bad handwriting that cauplace, he confusion, but my Armor deck had a Romans defense (with Sabbath Breakers and an Entrapping Pharisees splash). I used that for 2 rounds, and my Judges+Panic Demons deck for the other 4.
Also, my only loss was in the final round vs. Justin. I had already clinched first place, since Justin had the second most points but due to ties and timeouts, he was 3.5 points behind me. He did need to win to take second, but I can assure everyone that it was a hard-fought game that I did not give to him in any sense. We both made some good plays and some mistakes, it just turned out that he made the fewest/least impactful mistakes in the end and win 7-6.
Overall, a very fun tournament, and it was great to see everyone.
-
Tyler also ran Armor of God/Romans.
-
I ran Disciples+Clay/Demons+Magicians but forgot to right it down. :P

I was wondering where your deck was...
-
I don't think my Armor of God/Romans is on the list either.

The irony of this is quite epic... ;)

And to think... He's our "wordsmith" to make sure we get the special abilities right on the new cards! ;D

Typing on tablets is always an adventure...

*wow*
So many references,
Random question has it been released where the next nationals is and when it is?

Excuses, excuses... ;)

I think he should be demoted from Wordsmith to Coopersmith. :o
-
FTR, I was not a playtester when Alexander the Coppersmith was printed...just wanted to clear that up, before everyone starts questioning my qualifications (this thread notwithstanding).

While I may razz the Professor I'm EXTREMELY grateful for his diligent work behind the scenes. If it wasn't for him the people who love this game would be subject to all kinds poor grammar and confusing language (often by me)!
The whole team gets a chance to proof card images these days. If we ever see another "Coopersmith" there will be several people to blame. :)
-
And I should also add, in case anyone believes I was truly offended by anything on this thread...
;)

What were the results?
United States + Canada VS Alstad's and the Alstad's won
T2-M Justin 1 Jordan 2
T2-2P Jordan 1 Justin 2
Just wanted to point out that the 3rd place finishers in both categories were out of state players. Noah from South Dakota (Legolas) and JD from Tennessee (kairusvega) got 3rd in MP and 2P respectively. Even though it's "just" a Local, it's still likely to be the largest T2 fields of the season so nice job to those guys!
-
Thanks!
It's nice to here it from someone who has been playing way longer than I have (I've actually only played about 2 games of type two before the tournament)
