Title: Women Warriors
Post by: SomeKittens on July 08, 2010, 11:20:46 AM
I've been asked this question several times, and never was able to come up with a satisfactory answer.  Why did Cactus take Women/Warriors out of print, but left in Unlimited/Prophets?

There were a certain number of each of the packs. When they ran out, the set was considered "out of print". Really, all sets are out of print once they release since they are not being continually printed again. Due to the higher demand for Warriors and Women packs, they have been out of print for awhile and there are still plenty of Unlimited and Prophets packs available. Limited packs are out of print probably due to a lower number of them being available in the first place.

Hope that helps!

Because, the terminology that we use it technically inaccurate - To my knowledge Cactus only does one printing of each set - So technically every set is 'out of print' Women and Warriors were so much more popular than Unlimited's and Prophets that Rob no longer has any to sell, thus he says they're out of print, when in actuallity they are out of stock.

Are there any chances of the printing presses starting up again?

Rob will not print the same sets again.

Hmm.  Interesting business strategy.

If they were reprinted over and over again then the cards wouldn't be as rare and thus not in demand. It actually helps keep some balance.

Its not that hard to print them yourself as long as you're capable of cutting them well and you have the commercial tools needed, but its probably illegal on many levels beings Redemption is copyrighted.

can anyone shed any light as to whether or not cards like Falling Away will ever be re-introduced in another set? it seems grossly unfair that newer players don't have access to cards like that as easily. it is a sad thing that the womens went out...

not in my group. when ur kinda isolated things are harder to come by. not many are willing to spend $14 on a card (or however much it is now) due to the fact that not many have jobs. do people really just trade them away? what is its rough trading value currently?

Dude, it took me almost a year to get a Falling Away. And, I didn't get it by trading. I got it by random luck out of a pack I got from Ken.

Years ago they were considering even banning FA so I really doubt that it will ever be reprinted but like I said that was a long time ago. IF it is ever reprinted there is a good chance it would be much like the Chariots of Fire and Harvest Time reprints.

The Women and Warriors sets were also printed in shorter supply than Limited/Unlimited and Prophets sets.

There were about 1,100,000 Limited boosters made, 1,100,000 Unlimited boosters made and 625,000 Prophets boosters made.

Compare that to about 188,000 Women boosters and 300,000 Warriors boosters made.

(data from Bryon's site)

Now there's a potential card.
SA: If France is captive, return to territory.  If Annoying British Jerks are in play, discard this card.

i would actually rank fa in the 15+ area though, considering its staple for many decks and in a set that was highly shortprinted.

Just perfect to irritate new players with.

I have always thought FA would be $15.00, but apparently not. Interesting.
