I just got back from seeing X-Men origins at midnight.
It was pretty good but unfortunately the first 15 to 20 minutes are the best parts of the movie (IMO)
Anyway need sleep.

I went to the midnight showing here. I personally thought the movie was awesome.

I thought it was a good movie--and worth watching in theaters.Had it come out before last summer, I might even rated it as awesome. Having come out after Iron Man and The Dark Knight, however, I wouldn't go that far.

I havent seen it and I have to admit, I think the comic book movies have already peaked and are on their way down.  This franchise in particular is on its way down and this is likely to be the last gasp of the x-men series.

I think that comic book movies are hit and miss as they always have been.  But I disagree that they have peaked.

X-men 1 and 2 were better than 3, but I hear good things about Wolverine.  And Magneto's story is incredible, I can only hope the movie does it justice.

The most recent Hulk (although not awesome) was definitely better than the previous one.

The most recent Spiderman was my wife's favorite (although I didn't like it at first), and after seeing her perspective, I agree that it is great.

Ironman was a great movie, and got me excited to see what they do with the Avengers.

The Dark Night was probably the best Batman movie EVER (in spite of my poor expectations).

It just seems like Hollywood has finally figured out how to make some great superhero movies.  I have high hopes for the future.

Was Gambit even in Wolverine's past in the comic books? I'm guessing that they only threw him in because he was absent from the X-Men proper movies, but I don't know enough about Wolverine's past to know whether or not Wolverine ever met him before joining the X-Men.

It's my impression from reports regarding this movie that a lot of creative license was employed.  The history of Wolverine is a strange amalgamation of the Origin storyline and the Weapon X storyline, and various characters seem to be included just for the sake of having them in the movie.

Also, the reason Wolverine has no memory of his time under Stryker is a total plot device.

Hm... really? I did not know that... is that the very original, like where wolverine is gold/black? That's all I know about x-men.  :)

But the guy with guns was SICK!

My favorite part of the movie was the opening scenes as the brothers were fighting in the wars.  Very cool idea.  I did love the casting of Victor/Sabertooth.  He played it better then I thought he could.  I actually liked the movie.  The special cameo near the end of the movie by a certain bald actor was awesome to me.  ;)

they better make "X-men origins: Gambit" next, because he didn't have enough action...

decent movie, but comparing it to other comic stuff (i.e. TDK and Ironman) it didn't match up...

Saw the movie, my biggest problem with it was that the messed up Deadpool! Not at thebegining, where he is Wade Wilson, but at the end when they gave him the name Deadpool...A minor problem I have is that there is no mention of Weapon X messing with its peoples memories, planting false ones so the people aren't even sure what is real and not. Other than that, the movie was pretty good, I liked it. Not nessacarily as an action movie, but more of an explination of how Wolverine came to be.

Deadpool was not explained as well because they are making a movie for him. I also disagree with half of what prof underwood said.
The new hulk was awesome.
The comic books movies were a hit and miss until recently with the new ones coming out, they have all been good.
What perspective did you see spider man 3 in...? Cuz I thought every perspective was bad for that movie.
I agree with the rest of your stuff.
And Wolverine was an awesome movie btw.

The perspective that the theme of the whole movie was forgiveness.
Harry forgiving Peter for the death of his father.
Peter forgiving the Sandman for the death of his uncle.
Mary Jane forgiving Peter for being an insensitive jerk.
And Eddie not being able to forgive Peter and being destroyed by his lust for vengeance.
Even minor incidents like Peter's landlord forgiving him for being disrespectful.

Watching it from this perspective gave it a depth and significance that made it much better in my opinion.

If you insist on breaking a movie down to either "action" or "morality" then I guess you have a case for calling it a bad movie, but if you inisit on seeing it "holisticly" then how can you say that Spiderman 3 is a bad movie given its content and meaning.

you were probably one of those people who liked "attack of the clones" because it had lots of Boom-Bang!

That was a bit harsh, don't you think?

Anyways, I thought the Wolverine moveie was well done for the most part except for his claws which looked like plastic almost the entire movie and the bits involving Cyclops caused a major plot hole. It was also a bit graphic as well, but as far as being about the history of Wolverine it did a pretty good job I think.

There is a difference between a "morally good" movie and a "good" movie
