Although I think North Korea has the better tech, Iran is actually crazy enough to try something.

Or America is crazy enough to invade Iran or try and start a coup d'état.

How about: "Thank you, America, for not turning all your enemies into shiny glass parking lots, because we know you could. Love, Colin."

I vote Iran, and China is the main reason. N.Korea may be crazy but China is there to keep them from getting too crazy. I don't know of any country that has the kind of leverage that China has over NK for Iran.

Insert required anti-American rant regardless of the actual thread :here:

Neither is a direct threat to America. South Korea and Israel on the other hand.....

Well, N Korea has Nukes and Iran wishes they had nukes.  right now N Korea is the greater threat, but if they nuked anyone, China would steam roll them big time.  N Korea would seriously disrupt the trade that is fueling the giant Chinese economy and while they may have an affinity toward "fellow Comrades", China's affection for N korea would go south real quick if they start nuking Japan, S Korea, or anyone else in the neigborhood.

But If Iran had nukes, they have the greater threat to start a more global war.  depending upon the back story and whether Israel actually provokes Iran, if Iran were to nuke Israel, Iran could seriously start a world war with China, Russia, Iran and some of the other muslim countries on one side and the US, Europe, on the other side.  If Pakistan sides with Iran, then India will side with us but they are both likely to sit this one out and see who comes out on top.

Russian history wouldn't lead me to think that there would be a Russian/Iranian alliance. China too, seems unlikely. I don't think either Russia or China desire a war with the US or Europe.

I agree. A World War is not a likely scenario, as the Iraq War illustrated. Countries are more likely to show restraint these days. It benefits no one in a Global economy.

I didnt say that a world war was likely, I said Iran was a greater threat to start a larger world war.  I also do not think that a world war is likely given American continued power and hegemony.  But the more volatile situation is Iran by far, and nukes would further escalate that problem.

So while a world war may not be likely, it is still pas a greater possibility of erupting over Iran/Israel than anything that N Korea does IMHO

I suppose it's a valid thing to note that Iran seems to be the only nation besides the U.S. who could provide the motive for using nuclear weapons. Russia could justify war, but not a nuclear war. I don't know much about North Korea, but they have way to many missiles pointed at them right now to try anything. China actually seems like the least likely nation to start a war.
