Title: what does woot stand for?
Post by: Warrior_Monk on June 19, 2009, 03:57:59 PM
ok, I've always used woot, but does it stand for something or is it short for something? or is it just a random made up word for yay?

I googled it.

it said it comes from Dungeons and Dragons players who would say "Wow, loot!" and eventually just devoloped into w00t! which devoloped into an expression for happiness.

hey,
I've known it primarily through the website www.woot.com (http://www.woot.com). It did end up as the 2007 Merriam-Webster Word of the Year (http://www.wired.com/gamelife/2007/12/woot-named-merr).

Ring Wraith is correct. I checked a few places and found that it originated from DG(dungeons and dragons.)

Lol, I see no point in the ring/gloves of fire... Firemaking is pointless to train anyways. Firecape > 99 FM cape.  ;)

That would be your internet, not your computer.  :D

And for what its worth, thats faster than mine and I have no issues...

I know, I know. My computer is fine (tons of RAM, 2.8ghz Dual-Core Intel Processor, etc). I just had used the term "pc" instead of "internet" because it was shorter and fit more in hand with the short speak.

Oh, and looking back I lied. I did it on my cousin's computer  ::) (better connection :()

Bandos is failure  8). Saradomin is the best against monsters (this is the one I own, because I love slayer :3)
Armadyl is the best against players.
Zamorak is good for... Castle Wars? Yeah, lets say castle wars. And Fists of Guthix (Although, D Claws here....). Not much else.

I dont need a SGS when I have the Enhanced Excalibur.

BGS rocks the duel arena, since you can spec every duel.  ;)

Duel arena is boring... Here is the ultimate list of minigames
Castle Wars > Fist of Guthix > Soul Wars > Trouble Brewing > Others.

Soooo... what level are you guys? I'm like 115 and 1.7k total or something like that... I don't really remember, I haven't played for like a year... I stopped like a month after summoning :p.

EDIT: 1663 total... :(

hey,
"Woot" has been spotted in the list of Ways You Know You're Married To a Geek Dad (http://www.wired.com/geekdad/2009/06/20-more-ways-you-know-youre-married-to-a-geekdad).
#4 - Upon the birth of your first child, he raised his fists and said, “W00t!”
Any geek dads on this board?

I was thinking about dumping the rest of my money into 99 construction/awesome house. Right now I'm 75 construction with 2 gilded altars, 2 scrying pools, a cool dungeon, Lesser Magic Cage... pretty much the best of everything I can get at my level :p. Although I don't want to spend a trillion hours leveling even though it is one of the fastest skills. I nearly went crazy getting to 75.

I renewed my membership today. Now that I'm out of school I'll start playing again.
