Does anybody else think that game was rigged? I mean.. What the heck.
-
How would they rig alllll those turnovers? :P
-
Granted the turnovers were ridiculous, but New Orleans was given two touchdowns (one was even reviewed) which obviously weren't touchdowns, and the three reviewed plays in overtime were progressively more obviously thrown to the Saints. When they ruled that last pass a completion even after the review, I lost any illusion that the game was being called fairly.
-
After the last review I thought something was not right. The second review was ridiculous but the 3rd...come on.
-
Some ref had reffed ONE too many Brett Favre games... he's sick of it... and it's such a bummer cause Brett Favre would be the 1st 40 year old qb to win a superbowl and AP is just a beast... no one works harder than him in a game.
-
I'm so tired of Viking/Favre/Peterson apologists. You win the game in spite of the Refs if your that good. Favre deserved to lose entirely on that OT interception. They tell you not to make the throw from the second you strap on a helmet and play QB in midget. Throwing the ball across your body while running the other way = handing your Son of God to the opponent and saying "Please use this against me.".
-
I'm not saying the Vikings played well because they didn't. What were there, like four fumbles and a game-losing interception? That doesn't change the fact that the refs were clearly not making calls based on what actually happened, but on who they (or their bosses) wanted to win.
-
IMHO, the Vikings lost the game because they made so many turnovers. End of story. I watched the entire game and I thought the calls were actually pretty accurate. You must all be MN famboys. ;)
-
Its called home field advantage. If the play is questionable, and could go either way, than the call goes to the home team. ;D
-
But the calls we are talking about weren't questionable. They were clearly called wrong, even after a review. I'll say it again, bad calls didn't win the Saints the game; the Vikings' failure to protect the ball did. But, I restate, that doesn't change the fact that the refs were crooked.
-
Wow... I went on youtube and saw those calls... the NFL seriously needs to change this. That's ridiculous... I mean the pass interference call is questionable because "uncatchable" is a gray area... but that 4th down conversion and the questionable catch were absolutely called wrong... and that's a FACT. Look at the footage... now I'm even more disappointed.
-
All the calls in OT were pro-Saints. Just awful, wrong calls. They can deny it all they want, but it seems to me that the refs were just wanting to get out of there AND not have to deal with the home town fans.
THAT BEING SAID, most of the 1st half the calls were very pro-Favre. I watched the game with my two buddies, one being a lifelong Vikings fan, and even HE said that it was starting to make him sick that the refs were calling everything Favre's way.
Do I think it was a conspiracy? No. I have umped many little league games and have always intended to judge calls impartially. After games I sit and review the calls with the whole officiating crew. There have been a few times that other officials have questioned a call of mine during our discussions. The general consensus is that during the heat of a game, our subconscious can sometimes impact a call.
I believe the refs in the Vikings game made some subconsciously bad calls: early on it was pro-Favre and late in the game they appeared to be make-up calls and "let's get the heck out of Dodge" calls.

we didn't turn it over once in OT. :) and as STAMP said, that's when we were punched by the refs.
-
Yep I agree that the calls where pro Saints. To bad that they made those calls but on the bright side next season the vikes might get home field advantage for the championship round and then our refs would call pro vikings. ;D
-
Good luck getting there without Brett Favre... you'd better hope he comes back. ;D

It'll take more than luck it's gonna take a miracle with out him. ;D

The Vikes proved that all they need is a good quarterback to go far. If Favre decides to be done/go to another team, then I'm sure that we can lure another good QB to come to MN. I'm thinking McNabb is a possibility. He'd be reunited with his former offensive coordinator (Childress) so that he'd be familiar with the offense, and he'd have a defense that can play consistently well.

Do you guys want McNabb? He's like the king of inconsistency... ;) You can't rely on him... when he's good, he's good but sometimes he'll have a whole year that's just horrible.
-
Well, it worked out well for the Vikings the last time they signed a former all-pro Eagles QB, finishing 15-1 and setting a record for points in a season. ::)
But what the Vikings really need is a QB that can get them to, and win, a Super Bowl. They don't want to pull a Lions/Sanders and waste Peterson's years by trying to draft and develop a new QB. Assuming they all play next year I would go with Warner over Favre and McNabb.
But the big "coup" would be to get Brady. Belicheck might be ready to dump him in favor of re-building.
-
Sadly, Brady would work great in that offense, as much as I hate him. He would throw screen passes and short passes to Peterson, Taylor and Harvin and they'd run the ball down the field; it's actually quite brilliant. :D
-
But Brady is basically Belicheck's man slave (or something like that), do you really see the Pats getting rid of him?!?!?! :P

Well if we get Tebow we might not need Favre..
-
Tebow will not be drafted before the third round. Have you seen him throw lately? He's got a worse pro throwing motion than JaMarcus Russel.

He'll go higher than the third round, just not as a QB. ;)
FWIW, Brett Favre has a horrible throwing motion, but it hasn't stopped him from being successful at the NFL level.
-
Not as bad as Tebow's.

Maybe not. But I really hope he does well wherever and whatever he plays. The NFL/America/The World needs more people like him. Have you guys heard about his upcoming Super Bowl Ad (http://www.kansas.com/news/related/story/1139375.html)?

I just read about it, and really hope Planned Parenthood and NoW and the rest will quit thinking political agendas and give us that choose life the "choice" to tell others about a story...
