Title: TL;DR Redemption Recent History?
Post by: SirTimothy on March 12, 2018, 07:06:02 PM
I used  to play redemption pretty actively back in the day. I was looking through all the cards I used to play with  and wondered what has happened in the years I haven't played. Can someone give me the TL;DR of what has happened in Redemption since the Disciples set? Any overall trends over these last couple of years? Cards I should be aware of? Most exciting thing that has happened? Most controversial thing? Major rules changes? Keep in mind that I haven't played in a while (cough), so I am a little rusty to all the lingo and card abbreviations people use.

Thanks in advance!

In 2013, a new starter deck was released (I/J) and with it, a new card template. The cards are a lot cleaner now and the card text isn't placed over the art. I remember in 2012 (I think), they announced that Son of God cannot target your own lost souls (which made me VERY angry, but I got over it), and they made the card better: Negate and rescue one lost soul. The clay brigade was introduced in 2014. The game has been pretty good the past few years IMHO.

The newest sets and major cards from them are:

2017 Revelations of John...Three Woes dual-alignment dominant that negates any card
2016 Cloud of Witnesses...The Second Coming good dominant that replaces New Jerusalem and searches for any good dominant from deck or discard pile.
2015 The Persecuted Church...the armor of God place enhancements make a powerful "spiritual warrior"
2014 The Early Church...Shipwreck evil dominant that negates and discards a site or fortress

Also, in 2017 the Reserve was added - 10 cards that act as a "sideboard" and add lots of fun strategy to the game!
