(My Initial Post)
Hello all.
I am taking my time in finding the best Windows 8 Tablet-Laptop Hybrid. And until I am convinced that I have a clear winner, I will not at all be in a hurry to make a purchase.
What I want is enough hard disk space and that the screen MUST be a detachable tablet.
And so, I seek your best opinions on what best to buy....or wait.

Typically when I am purchasing any sort of tablet or computer, I ask myself (and those with whom I might consult, but I don't do that because I'm a technophile) "What am I going to spend the most time doing with this device?"
That helps me narrow down what the most important features are going to be for me.
Thus, I recently purchased a Lenovo IdeaPad Y510p because I wanted something to replace my gaming desktop. Still wanted to be able to play current gen games, but also needed to consolidate the amount of space taken up on my desk at home and be somewhat portable (but portability meaning if I moved today, could I easily transport my computer? rather than "I have to carry this thing around with me to class every day." or some such nonsense).
SO, if you are able to share...what might you be doing that requires such a unique device?

And if it helps to know at all, the Yoga 2 just got announced, and will likely drive down the price of the original Yoga if you're looking for a price-competitive option. And I believe the Yoga 2 is being sold through Best Buy for $1000 for the baseline model, which is pretty solid. I love Lenovo products.

Well, I've always been a laptop user. Most of what I do does not require me being on a tablet. However, I'd like to see if a combo will work well with me so that I can taste having a tablet but that is not necessarily an IPad.

does the keyboard have to detach or can it fold back like with the yoga?

I don't think my advice will be very helpful since I still use a desktop with a cube tube monitor... :o

@ lp670sv: If you think that the folding type will not be that bulky and that it will be comfy to use, then it's worth inspiring my interest.

Update: I might just purchase an 11-13" lightest laptop with at least 200GB hard drive + a Nexus 7 or similar tablet for my in-between smartphone and laptop needs. My budget is $500 max total (both units inclusive).
Any ideas, even if to tell me if the options I have above may or may not be practical?

I've had a Nexus 7 for about a week and a half now, and I love it. That said, I'm almost always on a college campus, so I get a lot of use out of it because I consistently have WiFi. Still, I would recommend it to anyone so long as they have WiFi. Getting a cheap(ish) laptop along with a Nexus 7 isn't a horrible idea.

Thanks much for the insight Chris. That solves the tablet portion of the project that involves 2 units instead of one.
Do you or does anyone have an idea for a lightest laptop that still supports at least 100MB hard drive built in? Granting that I get Nexus 7 32GB at $200 that leaves me a budget of $300 for the laptop. My max is $500 total.
Your thoughts?
