Title: Sunburns...
Post by: Bobbert on July 07, 2011, 09:52:08 AM
... hurt. Enough said.

Note to self: when spending all day outside at a waterpark/alpine slides/go karts, wear sunscreen.

I fell asleep in a chair in the Boundary Waters on the only day I've worn shorts this summer. Knees and face sunburnt.

I've managed to avoid burning so far. (There was one incident during the first good day in Rochester, but it wasn't too bad).

Then again, I haven't gone outside much...

An advise that a friend told me that works:

When you get sunburn, take a shower and use a washcloth to really rub the burn.  It will probably hurt a lot but afterwards, you will feel a lot better.

I've done it a few times and the burn doesn't really hurt afterwards (and yes, it can hurt a lot in the shower).

I got burnt at the beach.......
after putting on sunscreen.....
stuff didn't work.

Getting burnt on the shoulders and back seems to be the worst because when you sleep at night you can't sleep on you back or your side. And with the shoulders you can't reach higher than shoulder height without it hurting. I put on aloe vera for overnight and that didn't even seem to help a lot.

QFT, i had this happen to me after swimming like most of the day without sunscreen(or with some that didn't work  :maul: ) Impossible to sleep with the burning feel every time you move. Even the burning is nothing compared to the Terrible itching of a whole upper back of peeling skin  :'(

I spent two weeks hiking in New Mexico, didn't use sunscreen once and somehow didn't burn. I did end up somewhat darker, though.
EDIT: Apparently the back of my neck burned but I didn't notice it.

I always sleep on my stomach.  According to some sleep scientists, that makes me fun at parties.

Apparently scientist differ on what that means. ;D  I thought it made you fart, but that might have nothing to do with it  ::)
