any snow where you live?
No. ;) :D

Another 4-6 inches as we speak.

Actually....We have a 30% chance of snow on friday, and in case any of you didn't know, I live in central FL. PREPARE FOR THE ICE AGE!
-
lol
-
Bolivar MO has some snow maybe 3-4 inches
-
Theres a little bit here, but its only the leftovers from the big nasty snow we got pounded with a few weeks ago. Nothing new falling here.

Some brazenly let the water wash over their feet and a few even lay out in bikinis and swimming trunks. A brisk wind blew and temperatures hovered in the 50s.
They must be from MN...

Should I point out this is the 3rd "cold" year (well cold for FL standards) in a row?
-
In St. Louis, it started snowing last night. Canceled school. In the city it's supposed to get down to 4 degrees, 0 in the county.

You have a 6-sided die numbered 1 to 6. After each roll of the dice, you add 1 all sides. Over time, your rolls will trend higher, even if occasionally you'll get a lower value. Because you see the sequence "6, 7, 3, 4" when rolling, does that mean that your die numbers aren't actually increasing?

Quick post.
That logic fails when you expand it over six years. After six years, the lowest number you can get is 7. Once you reach this point (assuming that you had nothing but sixes the first year), it would be impossible to get a record low roll. However, a lot of places are still reaching record lows. Hopefully that helps (need to get back to work).
God Bless

Obviously the numbers don't perfectly fit the example, but I was just arguing on a generic level. A trend can still go higher without each individual value being higher.

Several counties in northern Florida were closed today because the temperature was too cold for school (30 degrees).

Hey,
Several counties in northern Florida were closed today because the temperature was too cold for school (30 degrees).
And people were calling Omaha weak for canceling school with two and a half feet of accumulated snow and -10 degree temperatures. * shakes head *

Floridians need to get a grip and learn how to deal with cold weather. :P
Fun fact:
There was a study done to find correlation between the increase of deaths and cold weather. In Texas, they found that the mortality rate increases significantly as the temperature reaches approximately 34 degrees. The same sharp increase was found in Chicago, but for 11 degrees. They weren't able to find correlation between the two for Minnesota. ;D

independence mo... -5 degrees, wind chill -20 to -30, snow is at least 6 inches deep and ive seens snow drifts as tall as i am(6'4") and taller... and ive had a great time shoveling(at least 15 times in the last two weeks).
-
Use a flame thrower!
-
Use a flame thrower!
Spoken like a true Floridian... ;)
The problem with that idea is that after you turn off the flamethrower, the melted snow now freezes in the cold air and becomes ice (which is much worse than snow).

Actually, I knew that. I've just always wanted to use a flamethrower. Arms chopped off? use a flamethrower! Forest on fire? use a flamethrower! You need Summer Wheeze.

Need to throw some flames? Use a..., well, you get the idea.

bahahahahaha...
I grew up in the mountains in Park City, Utah, and they wouldn't close the schools unless the snowplows couldn't get out of their garages at 5am to plow the roads for the school buses. This almost always meant that we had at least six feet of snow accumulated overnight, rendering the five-foot high plow blades ineffective.

By the way, Independence mo is in Missouri.

By the way, Independence mo is in Missouri.
And it's about 13 miles from Kansas City, which is also in Missouri. Which is why MKC said what he did.

Not to go against the tide but there is NO SNOW IN MINNESOTA!!! ;)

Not to go against the tide but there is NO SNOW IN MINNESOTA!!! ;)
True that. The eight inches of white powder on the ground everywhere is actually really cold flour.
-
yes, independence is part of the kansas city metropolitan area. technically i live in shawnee, ks, and not the actual city of kansas city, but since im part of the metropolitan area, im pretty much in kansas city.

FWIW, part of the problem here in Florida is that no one has the appropriate clothing. The majority of Floridians do not own winter coats, boots, gloves, or anything with warmth. Parents would have literally sent their kids to school in long sleeve shirts with wind chills in the 20's.

That's craziness. Anyone from Minnesota can tell you the proper attire for 20 degree wind chills are shorts and tee shirts. (At least in the spring.) ;)

Lol, you guys thinking 20 degrees is cold. Unless Im going to be out in sub 30 degree weather for a long time, I still wear short sleeve shirts. I never wear long sleeves, unless its a jacket/coat, which I only wear when I'm going to be in the cold for a long period of time. :D
-
i firmly hold the belif that you northers are crazy.(jk)

It is all relative. The majority of my students have immediate family raised in Central America, so they have not likely ever felt temperatures below 70 degrees. Conversely, if it was 110 degrees with high humidity, you would likely want an air conditioner, while they would feel comfortable.

No you southerners are the crazy ones how can you stand it!?!
jk as well. :)

sorry, I thought that "citian" was just a mispelling of "citizen"
ah, i see how you could have misinterpreted that. :)
however, there is a kansas city, ks and kansas city, mo that are right next to each other at the border. much like how there is a st. louis, mo and st. louis, illinois that cross over into each other.

Actually you'll get more money if you melt down and sell the silver. :-\

really?

Yep. But then you'll get arrested for defacing federal money. :P

   You would have to separate the garbage in the middle from the silver. ;D Funny we get arrested for defacing it but the government doesn't. >:(

Bring it on, I dare you. ;)
