Showing my age here, but while on the topic of Sesame Street and childhood memories...this is the first song that I realized was a parody on Sesame Street.

That shows your age?  That's like saying your age is betrayed by saying you saw The Matrix in theaters.  I was watching The Muppet Show in my youth, before REM had even released Document.  And even that is a rerun of the original broadcasts, and Sesame Street went on the air eight years before I was even born.

I hope the people who didn't watch first-run original Sesame Streets aren't reading your post.  ;)

In the words of Sergaent Schultz, "I know nothing!"

I know what you're thinking. "Did he count to six or only five?" Well, to tell you the truth, in all this excitement I kind of lost track myself. But being as this is about Sesame Street, you've got to ask yourself one question: Do I feel lucky? Well, do ya, punk?

Sergeant who?  Is that the new bad guy on Bakugan Battle Brawlers or something?  ;)

No, that would be Bullwinkle. Sargeant Schultz is a professional WWF (now spelled WWE) wrestler.

I don't think the monocled one would let Schultz wrestle in his spare time.  But who knows?

The monocle was evidence that the Colonel's vision was not very good. There seemed to be a lot of things going on at that stalag that he did not notice.

There's nothing I like better than a discussion of the symbolism found in Hogan's Heroes.

Hogan's Heroes trivia: The actor who played Sargent Schultz was the model for Uncle Sam in the famous WW II army recruiting poster that had Uncle Sam pointing and the caption "I Want You"

No... that's not true!... THAT'S IMPOSSIBLE!!!

It has to be true.  I read it on a random web site (http://www.hogansheroesfanclub.com/faq.php (http://www.hogansheroesfanclub.com/faq.php)), and they have backup in the form of a scanned in article from the Cleveland Press TV Guide from 1965.

Further proof of the factoid's veracity can be found in the fact that it it NOT listed in John Banner's Wikipedia entry.

You could have just asked me to search my feelings.  I would have known it to be true.

That Cookie Monster segment may be the best thing I have ever seen.  Things like that show how Jim Henson and Frank Oz were brilliant at improvisation with their muppets (case in point: Swedish Chef was a muppet version of the old my-arms-through-your-armpits gag), and the people who continue their work today have been working hard to fill some very big shoes.

Is that like the Whose Line Is It Anyway? game "Helping Hands"?

Yes, that's exactly it.  Oz would be the actual hands of the chef, and Henson voiced the sketch.  I think the main setup and punch line were already in place and the two of them sort of ad-libbed to stretch it out to the 30-second or 60-second time slot.
