Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade

We just got the good news that Jonathan Braun has been chosen as a member of the Macy's Great American Marching Band and will be marching in the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade this year. He plays the sousaphone (marching tuba), so we should be able to find him in the crowd. Jon's been playing Redemption for years, and usually comes with me to NJ area tournaments. So, even if you can't figure out which one he is, if you watch the parade cheer for the tubas!

You know, that now means that Redemption players will have marched in America's two big parades (Isildur marched in the Rose Parade a couple of parades back).

My older son Robert did two Macy's with the GAMB, and was part of the National Honors Band at the Rose Parade last year, although he got sick in CA and couldn't march.

I actually watched the game where the Cal return man ran into the Stanford marching band.

That's gotta count for something...maybe a Nobel Peace prize?!?

Heard from Jonathan. He will be in the second row of sousaphones (that's marching tubas for you non-band-geeks), second in from his right, or from your left if you see the band coming head-on. I don't know where he will be for the big number at Herald Square. So if you're watching the parade tomorrow, as it starts and the Great American Marching Band steps out, look for him. (His hair will be up-even guys with long hair have to wear it up for the parade-so you won't be able to find him by that head of Samson hair.)
