I anticipate the zombie apocalypse. Thriller was definitely foreshadowing to his eventual demise.

It's confusing me that there are two threads about this topic.

Nope still funny.

It is a sad  thing that Michael Jackson died and even more sad if he didn't find Jesus.  Yet a part of me feels no remorse.

Yet a part of me feels no remorse.

And that is the most disturbing part of both threads on this topic. Somehow Christians are giddy that Michael Jackson may now be in hell. I was at VBS last night and many people cheered when MJ's death was announced.

Way to go Christians.

That's excessive. People need to learn to seperate the ideas of the person and the person himself. They don't like his ideas and influence, so they decide to hate him. So unchristian.

Reminds me of Gandi's famous line when he said he would have been a Christian if it wasn't for Christians (or something like that).

Why do you feel this way?

It is a sad  thing that Michael Jackson died and even more sad if he didn't find Jesus.  Yet a part of me feels no remorse.

Hmm.  I hope you don't lump TheHobbit in with those who are "giddy."  He was being honest, and I don't feel like his comment was "disturbing."  We should ALL feel sad, as he said he did.  We should all feel even MORE sad if we think he might not have been saved, just as The Hobbit said.  And, there is a God-given sense of justice in that "part of me" that feels no remorse in his passing.  Of course there is remorse in most of me.  I really, really hope he was saved.  The fruit I saw on his lifetree does not convince me he was saved, but I'm not going to be the judge of his soul.  If he was not saved, I am VERY sad that he was not saved, and that his chances for salvation are gone.  God didn't want him to be lost when he died.

But there is a part of me (a small part) that feels no remorse when people reap what they sow.  Even as a kid, there was a part of me that was glad to be punished by my parents for doing wrong.  It is a good part of us, though often misguided and influenced by our own pride, that feels content in God's justice.  Didn't Moses and Miriam rejoice when the horse and rider were thrown into the sea?  That was not wrong or disturbing.  Clearly our response as Christians is different now that we are more focused on individual eternal salvation, rather than the temporal salvation of God's people, but still, you do not need to quench ALL of your feelings of justice when someone who has done harm to people and society is removed from this plane.  In fact, if he WAS saved, heaven is clearly a better place for him, possibly for all involved.

Anyway, The Hobbit never even expressed a sliver of happiness, let alone being "giddy" or dancing, so I hope you don't lump him in with those people at your VBS.

I don't think I can safely say that anyone deserves Hell, mostly for fear that I would ever get what I deserve as a sinner, rather than God's grace. Michael Jackson did not "harm society" or hunt down Israelites. I've always thought he was creepy, even when he was with the Jackson Five, but to have "no remorse" is extreme. Maybe not as extreme as the VBS people, but still extreme.

I realize that is just my opinion, but I try to look at people as souls. No soul deserves Hell, nor should we feel anything but anguish for all who have to spend eternity there, if that is the future we believe is coming.

Hobbit stated that "a part of him felt no remorse" not that he was completely without remorse.

Well stated Bryon.

Are you questioning God's method of judgement?

It is one thing to want justice by having a child killer go to jail. It is another to have no remorse for his death. Eternity is a lonnnnggg time. Why would any (even small) part of us want that for someone?

The people who have personal experience with this seem to find the heart - Jim Elliott's family; families of victims who are part of prison ministries. Death is no small matter, and one that should not be taken as lightly as it has been here.

So because death is such a terrible punishment, God is unjust by punishing those who have done evil?
