How about a tournament category were you can only use cards of older sets and/or with current arts, forts, doms, and lost souls?

I was actually thinking about this very topic just this afternoon! I would be all for it, because there are so many strategies that aren't used any more, but are really fun and would be awesome to to be see played again.

what is garbage sealed?

I actually don't know what garbage Sealed is but I was thinking more a of constructed format

A category I'm running with my playgroup is a modified type 1 using the last 3 starter decks. We are building decks out of those 300 cards and then adding a random number of cards to them. That way it is more fair as it limits the new "more powerful" cards I have but they don't, and also gives a little love to some of the older cards.

Any old strategy that was good is still good, I think. What are some examples you had of ones that are not?

Not sure if your talking to me or not but my old deck back in the day was a silver/brown deck. The theme was basically massive banding. I would use gathering of angels and the second seal on offense. For defense, I banded unclean spirit, Esau, King Saul, Abner, and/or Michal a lot or just use scorn of Michal. It was so much fun.

Massive banding is still a thing. On offense, your best options are Teal, Red, Throne, and Judges (although Clay, Green and Blue can do a great job of it too) whereas on defense you can rock Gold or DemMagicians in addition to Brown.

Garbage sealed, or as I like to call it "jank draft," is when players get four packs of unlimited and four packs of prophets and builds a deck out of them (with, of course, adding 7 generic lost souls into the mix). It made its debut at Nationals 2015 (I believe. I played it there and it was the first I heard of it). It's actually a lot of fun to play!
That being said, I wouldn't mind if there were a tournament format that only used cards from the old days. Probably just Women's and back, and SoG, AotL, Christan Martyr, and Burial could be the only dominants used (if any).

Back then no one could beat my son around here in Georgia...
The other day he got out his old deck that he was the Georgia State Champion with and My grandson had a hard time beating him with a J deck....

I strongly support any category that exclusively uses old cards. This would allow for a retro category that does not require a higher supply cost for hosts.

So they each get a E/F, G/H, I/J starter and make a deck? What does this normally cost? It might be a way to get players into the game and get a pretty decent card pool.

So I have two players who have all 3 decks and they use their own cards. As for the others they all own the I/J and/or G/H and I have enough copies of the missing decks that they don't have, so in reality it cost them nothing and is still very fair!
Side note: I let them pick two offensive colors and one defensive color for me and they got their own picks. I didn't even place, so it defiantly balances the playing field.

P.S. This idea used to be called Redemption Retro and I don't know anyone who didn't like it. However, the person who I think liked it the most was JDS but I have no idea if he is even involved anymore because, well, I'm not really involved anymore.
