The Last Airbender *spoilers*

I went to the midnight showing last night.  I want to hear what other people think of it.  I'm going to be biased, because I've watched the show a lot.  I'm especially interested in what people who haven't seen the show thought of the movie.  Here's my thoughts:

4th Spoiler: I totally agree.

Over all I thought the movie was ok. Which is disappointing because the tv show is great. While they totally set it up for there to be another one, sadly I doubt there will be..........................

I work at a movie theater and people have been leaving halfway during the movie consistently. People at the midnight even left halfway and complained about how terrible it was.

Isn't M. Night Shyamalan the director? If so, I'd be entering halfway through the movie complaining how terrible he is but mentioning I want to see the ending.

Best part of the movie.

Remember kids, Air/Water/Earth benders can't make their elements but FIRE can! Wait...What?

Okay so I went and saw it and (I am so DEAD for this) I ENJOYED IT. For one reason, I realized two things, I knew many things were going to be cut and it was going to be cramped. Its 10+ hours of material for goodness sake! Secondly, I knew it would differ a bit from the show so I treated it as its own entity

For a FULL opinion.

Ok,

1. Obvious sequels.  Hence, Book 1: Water.  I'm unsure of my opinion of that.

2. Aang and Sokka's mispronounced names annoyed me a lot.  Not hard to pronounce correctly, but reminds me of the pronunciation differences of Yoshie between the US and Japan.  Forgivable.

3. Higher level Firebenders CAN bend fire from their OWN Chi in the movie.  However, I believe in the T.V. series, firebenders received their power from the sun and thus, did NOT need a proximity fire source.  Kinda Lame.

4. Effects were pretty good, but the 3D aspects were lacking.  I like the martial arts, but I think that the bending should have been a bit more rapid in order to have more intense action sequences like the T.V. series.  Needed improvement.

5. Relatively family friendly, besides all of the spirits and chi.

Overall, 3/5 stars.

2 The way they pronounced them is completely correct Asian....but Avatar was a purely american show, so I don't see why'd you switch styles.

4 I agree completely, I understand why Zuko/Aang didn't use as many bending techniques (Close combat isn't a great place to shoot fire) but the bending needed to speed up a bit like when Aang laid very much smack down at the end of the movie on the fire benders. Hopefully we'll see more fast paced battles in Book 2.

+1 LOL! It was funny when Aang would do a move that took 30 seconds to pull off and when he finished barely anything happened! Why did they change that?  In the show the benders element would move with them not after they already did the move.

That is true, but it reminds me of other movies and such where the same deal happens.  It almost ruins the movies... almost.

I always viewed it as the firebenders using heat as their bending source, which is why they can make lightening, fire, heat a cup of tea...etc.

I really hope they make a second one just for Toph. Iroh was pretty good, I must say. but I really wanted more effects, better pronunciation, and not bouncing all over the place. there were several things they could have linked together into one scene.
