Title: random topic to discuss
Post by: New Raven BR on September 21, 2012, 11:42:19 PM
ok im really bored and the boards are becoming too silent for me so im gonna start up a discussion like the cheese topic but let's take it one step further in foods and talk about sandwiches.
so everyone what sandwiches does everyone love even if its from Subway? mine has to be bologna and american cheese on honey wheat bread, if from subway then the famous meatball marinera cause only REAL fans of subway eat meatball hogies so i will say after mentioning this; I WANT MAH HOGIE!!!!

If it's at Subway, than it's the Meatball Marinara and Sweet Onion Chicken Teriyaki.

I always make my own sub at subway:
Meatball Base, italian herbs and cheese bread
pepperjack cheese
pepperoni
ALWAYS TOASTED
pickles,banana peppers, jalapenos
yellow mustard, honey mustard, Dijon mustard, chipolte southwest.

White bread, ketchup, two pieces of bologna, white American cheese on top of and in between the bologna!

BLT sans B and T. With sweet onion sauce, ketchup, honey mustard, yellow mustard, chipotle southwest, regular mayo, light mayo, oil, ranch, buffalo sauce, and marinara from the meatball marinara.

o_0 That sounds more like a sandwich you'd eat to win a bet than anything else.

It probably doesn't taste differently than heinz 57 on lettuce.

Two things:

1. Rawrlolsauce's suggestion for a 'sandwich' sounds horrifying.

2. The best Subway sandwich is a footlong Steak&Cheese on Monterey Cheddar, non-toasted, with pepper jack, lettuce, tomatoes, onion, green pepper, jalepenos, and Chipotle southwest sauce.

3. Often, people with degrees in math have difficulty counting. Too many Greek letters that are actually numbers or something.

No sandwich is complete without a full compliment of jalapeno potato chips on the side.

Thankfully, my degree is not in Mathematics.  ;)

On topic, I always order a Cold Cut Trio on Parmesan Oregano, with straight vinegar on the bun. Add extra tomatoes, pickles, and black pepper, and I'm good to go. The sub can only be complemented by Salt & Vinegar chips.

I tried to go to Bun Mi today, but got there only to realize it isn't open on Sundays. So now I'm hungry but tired of dorm food.

Minneapolis people: What's better, Mesa Pizza or Pizza Luce?

Pizza Luce is way better quality, but also much more expensive. Mesa is decent pizza for super cheap relative to most places. My personal favorite pizza place on campus is Toppers though, reallyy good for a good price (especially on Mondays with four dollar personal size pizzas). Punch is also delicious, but can get pretty expensive as well.

Yeah, I've been to Punch a couple times. They handed out little key chains during welcome week that give you 25% off, so I don't think it's too expensive. That might be because I'm paying something like $9 per meal for dorm food. I also went to the pizza place in Coffman (Topio's I think?) and that was pretty bad. I'm just trying to get acclimated with the local food scenery :-*.

And really, pizza is just a type of open face sandwich.

True that.

Yeah, pretty much anything in Coffman is too expensive and not high enough quality to be worth it. It's not horrible in a pinch, but there are always better options if you have the time and experience.

Some other tips (all are my opinion of course):

Best Pizza: Toppers for quality and price, Punch for overall quality.
Best Chinese: Village Wok. No contest. Pagoda is ok, but Village Wok is award-winning good.
Best Burgers: Five Guys. Customizable, delicious, and they can read your mind*. Annie's is good too if you want more of a sit-down restaurant feel (and a shake/malt).
Best Sandwich Shop: Really depends, Potbelly is good if you like toasted (I hate Subway toasted subs). Jimmy Johns is as fast as advertised and good, Subway is Subway, but my favorite is Erbert and Gerberts (a sandwich is a sandwich, but their bread is awesome).

who is minus-bombing this thread?
Title: Re: random topic to discuss

off topic but whoever bombed this thread with -1's is the most immature person on the boards.

we're talking about sandwiches not pizza or cheinese and burgers are a different kind of sandwich and should be its own category.

i love havin the cold cut cumbo or the meatball marinera from subway on untoasted bread

i find the lack of a picture of goat sandwich in this thread disturbing.
i'm surprised no one has mentioned a classic PB an' J...

Don't worry, I don't think PB and J has an age limit...

As far as best subway sandwich goes, I'd have to go with turkey, American cheese, lettuce and mayo on monterey cheddar because I never really feel like getting anything else...

On my way home from Nats, my family stopped at a Subway. I had a cold cut combo for the first time, and it had American cheese, mayo, and lettuce on toasted Italian bread and it was AMAZING! :) It's something good to alternate with my usual Meatball Marinas.
