Since it seems like the appropriate time to point out inconsistencies in Redemption, I was thinking today, why do we call heroes "heroes" and not "good characters" or have a specific name for evil characters?
If we did happen to rename ECs to something else, what would you want them to be called? Villains, antagonists, scoundrels?

Authority of Christ: Discard all Scoundrels.
In seriousness, I think Villains fits as opposite to Hero. Antagonist could work, but it is almost as annoying to say as Evil Character and it doesn't technically mean evil, but since we play from the perspective of Good (only good can win, you mostly use your good stuff on your turn).
I really don't mind calling them Evil Characters.

Well, Han Solo was a scoundrel and a hero, so that won't work.
I vote for either North Koreans or Yankees, since they both have already been designated as evil empires by reliable1 sources.
1No, not really.

+1 for the Star Wars reference....you know what....+1 to all for the use of the term "Scoundrels" in general
-
"Bad Guys"
Either that or we could change Heroes to "Cops" and Evil Characters to "Robbers."

Hmm..."If used by an Assyrian North Korean..." nah, it wouldn't work.
Yankee would be good, except there are some positive (non-baseball related) connotations to that word. How about Jeter? Discard any Jeter in play?

Robin Hood was a hero and a robber. And we have to be careful of rogue cops, especially those that sit next to present and former First Ladies. ;)
I'm glad you didn't say "Cowboys" and "Indians," otherwise we would have had to add your name to the Washington Redskins lawsuit.

The problem with words like villain is that they have an even worse connotation than "evil characters" (in that gray characters like Am Slave, Hager, etc. are shoved into the group because they weren't strictly 'heroes').
I wouldn't mind a shorter word for EC, though. Maybe we could add something for neutral characters, too. ::)

Yeah...something like "ambiguous."
