I have 1 deck running them.  I think they're better than most people seem to, but I agree that they are definitely inferior to at least 3 other defenses this year.

Idk, maybe...

The Guardian has a fairly successful Assyrian defense for T2. Their usefulness in T1 has never been something to shout about though, especially now that NT defenses are generally better against main offenses, and Assyrians main win strategy (capture) is one of the most protected against abilities in the game.

I have been using Assyrians since they first came out and have endlessly worked with them.
I find both their capture but also their Forgotten History + 2k Horses is really good in T2.
They are pretty dead right now but I heard from voices inside my head that they might get something in the new set. (I hope...)
Retired?
