I was on it. Holy moly.
-
um, what about it?
-
That's the firecracker plane! Wow MP, I'm glad everyone was fine.
-
Yeah, thank the lord everyone is alright.
-
Wow, just isn't just a fireworks thing. The White House is saying this was an attempted terrorist attack.
-
What exactly happened?
-
Wow, just isn't just a fireworks thing. The White House is saying this was an attempted terrorist attack.
no, they didnt. msnbc said it was, but retracted their statement. just fireworks. whoop-de-doo.
-

So give us your account, what did you see?

Actually, I'm reading quite a few stories saying that the White House did say that, including FOXNews and CNN. It could be bad reporting, but it's seeming less and less likely to me.
-
so, you're like, back from africa or whatnot?
-
Yes, I am back now. It was absolutely not just a firecracker and a dumb kid. There was a second man arrested, and a bomb in the checked baggage, but the news isn't reporting that right now probably because they're not allowed to.
And I saw the fire with my own eyes. He set his blanket on fire and it looked like he was trying to set his shoes on fire.
-
how do you know there was a bomb in the baggage?
-
The bomb dog hit on this one fellow, so they checked his carry on and found nothing. The dog guy went back to where the luggage was and we were all evacuated for a couple hours while they defused that bomb and checked for others.
-
Holy crap I had no idea about this incident! So there were guys on this plane trying to hijack it? Man... how'd they get past security?
-
Praise the Lord for His protection! :)
-
Min Pol, I too didn't hear about this. I thank God for your safe return to us.
-
I never know whether to take Pol seriously or not. However, the flight is certainly the headlines now as a confirmed terrorist attack with Al Quaeda (sp?) claiming responsibility. The guy with the fire had the explosives in his underwear. The last report I read said that there were enough explosives to blow a hole in the plane.
If Pol is serious, then God obviously has great plans for him since He brought Pol safely through what could have been a tragedy. Glad to have you back safely, along with the rest of the passengers on NWA 253.

The fact that you went on Fox News to tell the story is going to cause about 30% of the boards and 98% of the Huffington Post members to doubt the veracity MORE.
-
That couldn't have been you. His hair is too short. ;)
Like I said, God must have great plans for you to bring you through that. We're glad you're safe.

Too true. I was live on MSNBC as well, but I can't seem to find that link. Either way, that should balance it out a bit.
-
When was the last speech class you took? Uh, um, uh... ;) Really good interview, nice 15 min of fame!
I'm now going to watch the video on one of my dual screens, and have the other one open to 'common signs someone may be lying' and analyze you ;)

There was this guy a couple months back who said his son was stuck in in weather balloon that had floated away. That must have been true 'cause they interviewed that guy on TV. ;)
-
I thought Fox News was way more truthful than MSNBC.... oh well.
-
Please pray for me. This is getting out of control; I've been contacted by Al Jazeera for comment and CNN is waiting to hear back from me. I'm kind of scared about the first one, and I'm not sure what it's about. I haven't been speaking out against Islam or anything like that and frankly my interviews have been very critical of the authorities involved, so idk what they want with me.
-
I will be praying.
A thought: in your interview you mentioned another man who was cuffed inside the airport, which has not been mentioned elsewhere in the news so far. You specifically said that he was a "middle-eastern" man. Since the primary perpetrator was African, I would guess there may be a concern about potential bias, at least until the second arrest is confirmed.
-
well the news also at first said it was just firecrackers...now, we know its much more than that.
-
praying pol btw this is insane cnn contacted you!
-
Why is that biased? If I had seen an Irish man being taken off in cuffs, I'd say he was an Irish man. I also don't know if he was even related to the incident for sure, just that he was cuffed and escorted away after a dog hit on his bag. Could have been he picked a bad day to try bringing drugs into the country. Could be nothing. I don't think so, but I don't make statements on things I don't know.
-
Just trying to think like Al Jazeera here. ;)
How would you have known a man was from Ireland, rather than Scotland? You would likely base your decision on visual characteristics that are ultimately inconclusive. The second man may have had physical characteristics that you viewed as "middle-eastern" but he may have been an American-born businessman from Detroit.
Like I said, the primary terrorist is African, not middle-eastern. Until the authorities confirm the second arrest, your statement may be perceived as biased.
Alternately, Al Jazeera may view the singling out of a middle-eastern patron as biased by the FBI, especially since you said they found nothing in his bag.
-
well, i think ymt meant other people may view that as bias, as, well, you're american, you know. :)
-

i thought they said they found petn, an ingrediant of semtex?
-
I was talking about the second man Pol was referring to in his interview, not what they found on the primary perpetrator.
-
ah, i see. i only know what semtex is from playing too much modern warfare 2. :)

Especially considering another passenger (Kurt Haskell) is the only other I've heard mention another man (excluding the conspiracy theories), and he said he man was Indian (http://www.detnews.com/article/20091229/METRO01/912290365/1409/Flight-253-passengers-believe-others-involved-in-plot).

I'd either deny AJ a bite, or if you comply and they try to go after the bias angle, you can make it clear you only reported what you saw and did not draw any conclusions absent the facts, nor assume an anti-Arab stance of any kind. The transcripts of the interviews should back you up.

Al Jazeera probably wants to speak to you for the same reason that CNN, MSNBC, and Fox wanted to speak with you. They are a news organization, and you are willing to discuss a news event.

Although that is probably true, I find it best to consider all possibilities so you are not blindsided by an unrelenting media.

don't take al jeezra DON"T take it.

Even though he is an American on an American flight and all the other news organizations operate in America and they do not, you consider these to be equivalent?
-
Personally I would take the Al-jazeera interview too just because I would be interested in the type of questions that they would ask, But I would be sure to check up on whether some iman put out a fatwah on me just because they didnt like the content of my interview!
it miight limit where you could travel safely from here on out.

Al Jazeera is attempting to be the Arabic-language equivalent of CNN insofar as they aspire to be a global news network. They are a news organization doing precisely what you would you would expect a news organization to do. Daniel can take the interview or not, but he doesn't have serious cause for to start worrying merely because AJ asked to interview him. Did you find it strange that CNN sought out British nationals to interview following the London bus bombings in 2005?
-
I just wonder if you give this kind of benefit of the doubt to Fox News.
-
I just wonder if you give this kind of benefit of the doubt to Fox News.
Absolutely. I believe Daniel should have absolutely no fears about going on Fox News to share his story (again) if he so desires.
-
Mostly I was referring to whether you consider Fox News to be a legitimate global news organization that is trying to collect and report the news. Most people of your political persuasion, and now even the administration, have been advancing the notion that they are not a news network after all.
If you're suggesting that the equivalency is that Fox News does not incite violence against the government and Al Jazeera is not intending to expose Daniel to having a fatwa declared against him, it's at least a consistent application of the logic.
I happen to think the two are not equivalent in either regard.

:rollin:
...and for sooo many reasons! Is there such thing as triple-entendre?!?

I am praying for you, and Praise the Lord for delivering you and the others from the plot of the enemy!! Daniel, you have been given an awesome testimony of God's protection and grace!! What an opportunity to proclaim to the world (especially the islamic world via al jaz) about Jesus' protecting you! If they twist the interview, delete stuff, etc, that's on them. All you can do is share it with the world! Heck, if someone told you a month ago that news agencies worldwide wanted to interview you, you'd think it was crazy! So don't be afraid of testifying to God's power! Remember when you said you were leaving for Kenya about 1 month ago? Well, here are quotes from a bunch of praying Christians asking for God's blessings over you!! (I can't figure out the fancy way to quote these so I just cut and pasted these.) Look back at that thread, dude, this is an answer to many prayers! ;D
God bless you as He uses you.
Good luck Daniel. I'll be praying for your safe journey and smooth transition.
In the words of my good friend, Mike, "Godspeed!"
Blessings, Pol. You will be missed.
I'm sure everybody will be praying for you as will I. God has blessed you so far and he will continue to bless you on your trip.
i pray you'll be safe while your there, daniel
Safe travels!
Hope the move goes swiftly and safely ^_^
Good luck and save travels!
Grats to you on the opportunity man! May your mind and heart always remain tender and open! Blessings to you!
God be with you Pol. May you find what your looking for.
Cya man! God bless
God bless and watch over you.
Godbless and protect you!

I think a picture of that post is in the dictionary by "encouragement" and "edification." Thank you :)
