For those of you who will not be able to go to Nationals this year, I just thought I'd ask what you are (or have) done for vacation, if anything. I'll be going over To Kansas City for 4 days to see Flyleaf and hang out, maybe be a tourist as the last couple of times I've been out there, I've been way to busy to enjoy a lot. 07, was there for Nats. 08, Mo state and Demon hunter concert. (both in the same day.) I'll also see Flyleaf here in St. Louis the week before I see them in KC.

I had planned to hold a mini-Nats-East at my local church for the guys on our side of the continent that couldn't make the trip, mostly OH/KY/PA guys. Instead we have to move that same weekend so I had to call it off.

That would be a blast. Let us know when you decide to host a tourney, and we'll try to make it out.

If we ended up doing that we could protest the national winners in Cali with our own in a BCS type controversy stew...

Kansas City could put together quite the little tourney if we knew what days you and others would be available. We have a good base of both Type 1 and 2 players. I have a warehouse where we could set up some tables.

Unfortunately, while mini-Nats-East was going to be a Friday-Saturday affair, with all the board games I could squeeze in the car with my cards, most of my tourneys are just tourneys. Though I might bring Memoir '44 with me, the kiddies like that one.
The next best thing to it is the annual Big Local Beat Michigan Extravafesticon, usually only a local but I add booster draft, bring board games and video games, and get The Game running on the projector in the sanctuary. It's still just a one-day event but it's the only other middle ground I have between Just Another Tournament and a Nationals Weekend.

Given the caliber of the people who I knew would have attended my also-ran weekend, I think we could have made a strong case for a split title :)

They have it on their website, but you'd probably want to call ahead to whichever store you go to to see if they have it.

Wednesday and Thursday nights, I'm continuing to help with my church's VBS. Thursday I have my normal Thursday lunch with one of my best friends, and then I think I'm getting ice cream with one of my students from church. From Friday-Sunday, I'm hanging with some people from my small group at church. A couple of us are going to Uprise Festival, a local Christian 1-day festival, on Saturday. So, nice, busy, fun week. :)

I did VBS a month ago (draining yet fun and rewarding). This weekend I am going to an anime convention cosplaying all 3 days.

No others coming the weekend of Aug 7-10....just me...and my weekend looks a little placked already with being a tourist and possibly catching up with some peeps....but a game or so would be nice. I'll be in the Westport area.

Anime Festival orlando. Yes. The convention is also an rpg which is sweet.

The younger half of my family and my parents went to the Black Hills/Badlands of South Dakota with my little brother's boy scout troupe. Remind me to carefully consider before going on a trip with a boy scout group ever again. It was a great trip...with the worst behaved scouts, for the most part, that I've ever encountered. There's a point where boys will be boys but they breached that by a lot. :doh:
Anyways...I'm babysitting on Saturday and probably going to be continuing working on my book on Thursday and Friday. I wish everyone going to Nationals a good time! (even though you don't really belong on this thread...lol) :)

Since I have to miss the first day (I'll be working (luckily, Thursdays are easy at my job)), I belong in this tread until Friday ;)
