Title: New product idea
Post by: Eragon5 on March 27, 2015, 11:54:34 AM
For three lions gaming or cactusgamedesign I think a cool product idea is redemption themed card sleeves. You need solid backed card sleeves for tournaments so I think this is a good idea for that. They could be sold at the tournaments as well. Obviously if anyone does it they need the right equipment for it. I'd want some for one. There could be different themes like Son of God, or New Jeruselam, or Angel of the Lord.

Thoughts?

I had thought about doing that with the Grapes of Wrath art and the Mayhem art among others...maybe even the Gates of Hell art. The only issue is that they are very cost prohibitive right now. In order to get custom sleeves (which I have done while I still owned Gem City) you either need to be willing to pay $40 for 100 sleeves or be willing to order 25,000 50 sleeve packs at once. I am not ruling it out at all though. I really like the idea personally.

That's called preparing for the harvest. ;)

Whooie, that's a doosie. Hypothetically how many people would need to be interested and at what price to try and make this cost effective. I had considered trying to make a poll to see the interest level so you or Mr. Anderson would consider whether it might be a profitable venture, but from what it sounds like you'd need quite a bit of people to make it cost effective.
As it is, $20 per fifty card sleeves is a bit too steep for me, ideally it'd be under ten.
Thanks for the feedbavk uthminister and EmJayBee!

Here's the thing, pretty much every single other CCG in existence requires card backs that are a solid color, because literally every other option allows for extremely easy cheating. Redemption doesn't have that rule, which is fine, but I think it's also best that it doesn't formally condone anything like that either, especially since those card backs will be useless for everything else.

I've never heard of this before... can you give some examples of cards games with this rule, because I know that neither MtG or Yu-Gi-Oh! have such a rule, and I have good reason to believe Pokemon doesn't (as they actually package non solid colored sleeves in some of their products)

The only rules I know of regarding MtG sleeves for official tournaments are the borders must be a solid color (as in the artwork, if any, does not extend to the borders) and non-reflective.

FFG sells card art sleeves for (all?) of their LCG games. Those are all tournament legal.

My mistake then. I was under that impression for literally years. I have no clue why. Disregard me.

In poekmon tournaments, you can't have ANY art on your sleeves.

New product idea: More redemption cards
I think that goes as a given, by the way does anyone know when the next expansion comes out?

This is not exactly true. You can only have Pokemon related art, which is to prevent inappropriate art being played.

What I'd like to see as a new product would be like a special boxed set covering the history of the game, or preconstructed theme decks. The latter would be like starter decks, but the cards are more advanced and could theoretically be run in a tournament. Plus, they'd be great for sealed.

So, what about a new starter deck? Will there be one as well, or will there not be a new starter deck for a while? Regardless, I can't wait to see some of the new cards.
