New guy on the block....
« on: April 21, 2010, 10:48:26 PM »

When to my local card shop the other day and picked up a few TxP packs to hopefully to pull a few more new cards. When I got to the register the guy rang me up normally and then asked if I could fallow him in back. I was worried at first but then thought about the fact the I had applied for a position there about 2 weeks back so I did. We got back there and pulled done two cardboard boxes. He set them on the table and told me that a regular costumer of his gave him these two boxes about 3 days ago and gave him a note saying

"Dear Pat,

Please give these two boxes to the next person that looks like they could use help with their collection for the CCG Redemption. I have no longer got the time to play

I don’t want the cards to go to a big name player because they will do better in the hands of a beginner

Thanks, Alex Witt"

So I take the two boxes into the play area in the back of the store and open box numbered 1. In it I find 5 binders all loaded with cards with on box of cards. So I lay out the binders in numerical order and then move on to the Second box. In it I find 4 more binders and yet another box of cards. I thought this was wrong and went back to get Pat. I brought him back and show him and asked if this was right that he was just suppose to give them to me so he gave me the letter and send this is all I got. I then began to go though the binders right off the bat I open binder 1 and found another letter in it from Alex explaining all that was in the boxes. And that if I needed help getting out form this large pile of cards that the people here will be great friends and will help.

So I came here and looked over the site and seeing how you’re all so close I decided that I would give it a chance. I’m not sure where to start with all these new cards I have looked thought them all but there are several things I would like to learn.

How to keep them in order so I can find them all.
How to keep track of the cards I have for trade and the ones I don’t
And then the values/rarity of all the cards

For now this is where I would like to start.

Is there like an excel spreadsheet out there that has all the cards listed that way I could like type up a inventory on the computer?

Thanks guys!!!

Thats awesome :). I know Alex Witt is on the boards... what is his board name, guys. Vasbear?

EDIT: For the most part, yes. Prices do vary quite a bit though, but he is a good outline. Please note Ken's prices are a trading value, and you can almost always get a cheaper price for any card on the boards if given enough time. Ken is still a great seller if you need a mint card or you need cards fast.

http://www.threelionsgaming.com/lists_checklist.htm is  a good place to find values of all cards besides txp

Best way to organize cards is realy personal prefrence,

what i have found to work best is to do the cards by set.  Shown in by the list.  From there I took all the Ultra rare cards and put them in a seprate binder, this allows faster searching for the "valuable cards".

Best way to determin the value of a card
Gold Border = $2-$30 trade value
Shiny cards = 2-$15 trade value (txP)
Non marked cards = .25-$5
Exceptions are King of Tyrus wa version is $20
and a couple other cards from  the warrior set before the border system came about, this set is denoated by the sword icon on the bottom of the card

Ken's values are pretty much the standarad trade value for cards(due to being the largest single card distributer).
Most of the time you can actualy buy cards for 1/2 that value on the boards.

... but if im trying to sell one ...
Or buy one. :)

This is a really cool opportunity for you, and I hope that it is God's way of telling you that this is what he wants you to do.

By the way, depending on where you live, you might be able to get together with a playgroup nearby and maybe go to some tournaments. :)

First of all, welcome to the boards! Second of all, trading is a great way to get cards you want. As for RED, please don't discourage people to do things just because your parents won't let you. DONT EVER DRIVE A CAR OR BE IN ONE BECAUZ PEOPLE GET INTOO CAR AXIDENTS.

i realize that SPAM-ing is bad, (and is against the rules) BUT!! (at the risk of being warned by shaef) the warrior was provoked. red was wrong in this situation. i tried to lighten this topic, but epically failed. i do think that the warrior needs to control his spam before he gets banned. i also however see where he is coming from.

I can't think of anything that a person would say or do that would cause me to think to myself, this makes it okay for me to create a post with the same image repeated dozens of times.
