I just picked up the new Angel Wars video at Blockbuster today. I haven't watched it yet, but I found three interesting points on the box:
1. The videos are distributed by FOX.
2. The video is 90 minutes long.
3. The back advertises a preview of the "next mission."
I'll post my review/rating after I watch it.
-
I got it Tuesday, and have watched about half of it so far with my 11 and 8 year olds. It is in episodes so it is easy to break up the viewing. We like it a lot.
-
So basically it's a 3-episode arc similar to the three that came out a couple years ago?
-
Does this mean that the next set is Angel Wars II?

It is actually more like 4-5 episodes and they have less to do with each other than you'd expect. One common thread is Eli trying to get his wings.

I'm not all too familiar with Angel Wars' storyline, but I'ma guess that Eli does not get his wings by showing someone how the world would be a different, darker place without their presence.
-
Heh, perhaps we should expect a new "Bells" artifact?
Very cool to see that Fox is getting behind some quality entertainment.
-
FOX took over the Narnia franchise from Disney as well. It's still Walden Media's, too, but now shared with FOX.
-
The previews in the beginning advertise Fox Faith as a subdivision. I thought I saw clips of End of the Spear and other faith-based movies.
I watched the whole video. Like Bryon said, there are several "episodes" that play back-to-back, and none of them are repeats of the first three DVDs. The focus is on Eli and Kira. They are trying to incorporate more of the Star Wars ideas, so those of you who cry foul about Christian media that is not completely original will need to brace yourself.
For those of us who don't care, I liked the new video and where the storylines take you. I also like the new "Messenger" angels and their abilities. Watching this video is like watching a mix of Star Wars: The Clone Wars and Smallville. My 11-year-old thoroughly enjoyed it.

First: I'm well aware that this is necroposting. I thought it would be better to necropost than to start a new topic when a topic of similar material is on here to help delay a future purge from happening.
Second: why I posted.
A local Blockbuster is going out of business and I bought an Angel Wars DVD for $2. My kids seem to enjoy it but asked a lot of questions. The most prevalent:
"does Eli ever get his wings?" I found this question interesting because I haven't seen the first set of DVDs. Those that have seen all the DVDs or know the series well can answer the following questions that plagued me and my kids.
1) Why are there spaceships if they are angels and demons and where did the spaceships come from? "Posed by my 7 year old"
2) Why are angels struggling with human/sinful emotions and feelings? "Posed by me"
3) How can the demons and angels hurt each other? "Posed by 7 year old"
4) If the angels can go through buildings then why can't they go through the ropes (when Swift and Ramael were tied up)? "Posed by both the 5 & 7 year old"
5) where is Morg and other illustrations on the Redemption cards? "posed by me -> who-was-hoping-to-point-it-out-to-the-kids"
6) who is the ultimate leader of the demons and are they in the video? "posed by both the 5 & 7 year old"
Overall, like YMT said: they are very similar to the new Star Wars animation and they captured my kids attention though I couldn't answer a lot of their questions.
-
I have to ask, has the animation for these movies improved at all?
-
I thought it was pretty good, but I haven't seen the originals to tell you definitively.
-
Yikes, there's a transition I didn't see coming. Just FYI, Tracer, there's a general policy (http://www.cactusgamedesign.com/message_boards/index.php?topic=13599.msg208812#msg208812) to not discuss R-rated films on these boards.
As for the new Angel Wars, I saw the trailer on a DVD I rented the other day, and the animation looked a little better to me. You can see a couple of minutes of the new episode here (http://www.angelwars.com/).

For your number four question soulseeker I think the ropes were spiritual, and for the most prelevent question they have not let Eli get his wings yet, but they probably will in their next release or so.

That was my guess and that's what I told the boys. Their young ages probably made it hard for them to grasp that concept. Thanks for the help to those two questions. :)
