Title: Melchezidek.
Post by: Colin Michael on July 12, 2009, 01:20:37 PM
My pastor (Dr. George Grant) mentioned this verse today

Quote
And Melchizedek king of Salem hath brought out bread and wine, and he [is] priest of God Most High;

which got me thinking. This does make an interesting parallel to something else, doesn't it?

You mean the parallel between that and the Last Supper and Melchizedek's Daily Sacrifice?

King of Salem actually means "King of Shalom", or "King of Peace".

Or King of the place called "Shalem" which later, after changing hands, became known as "Yerushalayim" aka, "Jerusalem"

You mean like how Melchizedek is a Christophany? :P

This does parallel my brother's wedding, except that they had dinner rolls and champagne. Also interesting is the fact that there was a pastor and a doctor there, but I don't think they were the same person or had alliteration in their name. But, the wedding was near Salem, NH.

I do see the parallel indeed.

There are several parallels between Jesus and Melchizedek.  Kinda hard to tell which one you(Colin) are refering to though since you didn't say.

I was referring to the communion thing.
